The best area to stay in Garguera is within the village itself, particularly around the central Plaza Mayor.

Garguera is a small, traditional Extremaduran village. The Plaza Mayor is the heart of the community, a charming square where locals gather. You'll find a few small shops and a church nearby, and the village's narrow, winding streets are lined with historic stone houses. It's a very peaceful setting, surrounded by olive groves and cherry orchards.

For couples seeking a relaxing getaway, staying in the village offers a truly authentic experience. You can enjoy quiet walks through the orchards, savour local cuisine at the village's eateries, and appreciate the slower pace of life.

The best time to visit Garguera for pleasant weather and outdoor activities is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October).

During these months, the weather is generally mild and sunny, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Jerte Valley and the surrounding Gredos mountain range. You'll find comfortable temperatures for hiking, cycling, and visiting the numerous cherry orchards. Spring, in particular, is famous for the "cherry blossom" spectacle, which usually occurs in late March or early April, transforming the valley into a sea of white.

For those planning a summer holiday, July and August offer warm to hot temperatures, great for enjoying the natural swimming pools and river beaches found throughout the region, such as those along the Garguera river itself. While it can be quite warm, the refreshing waters provide a welcome escape from the heat.
