Convenient location near the center of Galway. Short walk to the shopping and restaurant district. The hostel was well kempt with friendly and accommodating staff. There is no parking at the hostel, but there are plenty of parking garage options nearby. The one negative is that the room with 4 beds was small with little space to maneuver in even when there was just 2 people present. For a one night stay as a solo traveler, it was well worth it for its central location.

There is a parking lot for the train just about 100 meters from the entrance that has overnight parking for €6.50. the staff was amazing and the group activities are absolutely worth doing for the experience. Great location in the city with tons of options around for whatever you could want to do. My only complaint would be that staying in a Hostel a lot of us were ready to check out by 6 or 7am and there is no way to self check out so we all were waiting around for several hours which did put a damper on my early morning plans.

Really great spot to stay and meet other travelers. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Doors are bit loud but otherwise, lovely place to stay.

Great hostel for staying in the city on a budget. I had interactions with multiple staff members and they could not have been more helpful or friendly. Made my stay so comfortable. Pub walk with other local hostels every night.

The hostel is right in the middle of Galway and walking distance to all of the pubs and shops. I took part in a pub crawl which was really fun and I highly recommend. What a great time and great hostel.

Hot and noisy.
I caught covid in the shared dorm. The dorm was very warm even in autumn temperatures. The dorm is right over a pub that has live music even in a Monday so it is quite noisy. Otherwise it was a good place to stay.

This was a perfect location in the center of town, right above a fun pub. Staff was incredibly present, friendly and helpful. Breakfast and coffee included, discount on a nearby parking garage was really nice. Lockers and a padlock are provided to keep items safe. Also towels are provided. Privacy curtains on the bunks in shared rooms were very appreciated. Next time, I'd bring my own little travel fan for some airflow and white noise.

Haven’t been to heaps of hostels to compare but this one is nicer for sure. Friendly staff, bathrooms checked every hour, curtains around the bed, close to everything in town.

Was a good stay bit of a mix up as regards the booking I wanted to be in at least 6 bed dorm but was showing 12 bed the 6 was available for night not the second seemingly there is a 4 bed dorm which would suit better but lovely stay and would stop again staff were excellent and very accommodating which made the experience more enjoyable so YES WELL DONE WILL STAY AGAIN

I had such an incredible experience staying at Galway City Hostel—this was the last leg of a two week trip to Europe for me, and it was my first time traveling out of the states. I had friends from home with me for other portions of the trip, but was traveling solo when I hit Galway. I could not imagine how I could’ve felt more at home and welcomed here. I had a blast on the pub crawl lead by Luke, guessing people’s zodiac signs with Tom, and getting to know everyone who was around while I was. There’s something special going on at Galway City Hostel!

It was awesome! Super convenient if arriving by train and incredibly helpful staff (Brian is the best!!!) I worked during the days from the common room and honestly couldn't have been more comfortable. 100% recommend! My only comment would be to make sure you grab your own booze since they don't have any on-site for purchase but there is a store 2 steps away.

All round fantastic!
A fantastic hostel in every respect. Central location to the city and bars, and a sneeze from the train station. A well presented reception and common room, with friendly, engaging, and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the bed/linen comfortable and clean. PowerPoints and lights available bedside. The amenities were functional, clean, and ensured privacy. Showers had great pressure and hot water, great after those cool days. Wifi was reliable. The breakfast was plentiful and had a good range of options. There is nothing negative about this hostel; it is a fantastic operation! I would highly recommend this hostel to any traveller.

Great hostel
The location was really nice, only main inconvenience is there's no elevator. I stayed in the big room and it was good, privacy curtains and each bed had a charging station and light. The ensure bathroom was really convenient with 3 showers and 2 toilets available. Breakfast was good with homemade bread and it's nice that they offer a €2 dinner to enjoy with an employee.

Nice hostel with central location
This hostel has a great location in the center of Galway. The facilities are clean and comfortable, and the staff are incredibly nice and helpful. I greatly enjoyed my time at Galway City Hostel and I will definitely be returning at some point in the future!

Great for a hostel
We stayed in a 6 bed female dorm. Each bunk had lockable crates underneath, which was nice to put any valuables. No elevators, but the guys at the front desk (Mark and Brian) were great in helping us take our bags up and down when we checked in and out. Since we were staying for three nights, after our first night we were able to move down to the available bottom bunks, but my friend's didn't have the sheets changed on it so we had to ask for it to be changed in the evening. As far as hostels go, it was fairly quiet at nights. Bathrooms were clean but had no ventilation, so it seemed super muggy and humid the whole time. Location couldn't have been better! It's right in Eyre Square, just a few minutes walk from all of the shops and pubs. Breakfast was ok (scones, brown bread, toast, tea, coffee, and cereal). The nice thing was that they had soy milk, which was great for me since I'm lactose intolerant. They had 2 euro dinners each night, which we didn't try, but seemed great. I'd suggest staying there to someone who wanted a hostel experience. One girl in our room had been there for almost two months, which I think speaks to the hostel. For me it was a bit pricey for a hostel, but better than hotel prices.

Best Hostel I have ever stayed!
This was rated the best Hostel in Ireland of 2015 for a reason. Staff consistently goes above and beyond, plus they are all super cool Staff often cooks full meals for dinner for 2 Euro. The location is perfect and the amenities are gorgeous. Also, you are bound to find cool people also staying here.

Very small group social area, small kitchen, no lift. Over an Irish music pub so music coming in the windows til 11pm. We liked this. Private toilets & one minute shower button. Felt Safe, good security, wire basket under bed with your lock. They did our laundry for 8 Euro. Nice staff, cereal, toast. Instant coffee, homemade bread & scones.

The hostel was really nice and great for a quick stay. It was right in the middle of the city. The only thing that I didn't love was that they do not have a 24 hour staff (many other hostels do). Therefore, when I went to get on my top bunk of the bed for the first time, it was around 11pm and I realized the comforter was wet. I had just checked in and dropped my bags off around 5pm and not gotten into the bed. That night I was stuck not using the comforter and being freezing for the evening since there was no one to ask about getting a new one. I am sure it was just wet from the laundry or something earlier that day since the bed wasn't wet at all, but it was a very uncomfortable situation.
