Top notch service. The hosts were super friendly and knowledgeable. The room was very comfortable and within walking distance from the sea wall and a lot of really good restaurants. That was a great benefit because parking down there is horrible. The breakfast was second to none. The whole stay was wonderful. We would definitely recommend to anyone and we will definitely be back.

Refreshing and Beautiful Bed and Breakfast
Polly and Jeff greeted me right at the door with smiles and home made chocolate muffins. Their sweet little dog assisted in the making me feel welcome. My room, the Balinese room was beautifully appointed, and the bed one of the most comfortable I have slept in. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and should grace the table of a restaurant. I enjoyed a stroll through their gardens with Jeff giving the history of the respective plants.

Jeff and Polly are superb hosts, so very knowledgeable and welcoming. They also prepare a delectable breakfast each day that is 5 stars. The home is delightful and there is a porch overlooking a nice yard with fruit trees and pecan trees. Rooms have redone bathrooms and are very inviting. Location is perfect, walkable to the Gulf and to the Strand/wharf for dinner. Thanks Polly and Jeff

Our welcome by both Polly and Jeff was thoughtful and caring. Polly makes the most delicious cookies, some with pecans right off their pecan tree! Their house, complete with beautiful bathroom renovations is both lovely and historical- as Jeff will inform you! The amazing backyard is peaceful, and beautifully landscaped. It also has a fire pit! One night during our stay, Jeff lit a fire, and Polly brought out graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars, so we could make s’mores! Our fellow guests, Jeff, and ourselves, had a delightful time hearing about Galveston history and sharing fellow traveling stories. Jeff even told us about a ghost or two! Our hosts were exceptional, caring individuals. Polly created, not only delectable cookies, but delicious gourmet breakfasts as well. Hats off to Avenue O B & B! We truly enjoyed our time there and hope to be back again soon!

This lovely 1920's B & B is about 4 blocks from Pleasure Pier and was a pleasant stay. Jeff & Polly are such gracious hosts during our 3 nights here recently. Polly offers a morning breakfast that is worthy of a gourmet meal. One has the option of an evening wine or spirit (if needed) as well. We stayed in the Asia Suite with its unique tub and fish tank. The bed was comfortable and room very spacious. We highly you to consider this B & B for your next stay in Galveston.....

Great Breakfast, Great Service
I very much enjoyed my stay here, Polly and Jeff are wonderful! The food is very good and the rooms are comfortable. My only complaint was that I would have liked a mini fridge in the room for medication but the use of the main fridge in the kitchen was offered. The birthday package of wine, cheese, chocolate dipped berries, and balloons was very nice.

This was my first time at a bed and breakfast and I must say, I had an enjoyable experience. The Hosts were very hospitable, the room was comfortable and the food was amazing! Everything think was just amazing! My only gripe was that the water pressure for the shower was low. But that is just a preference, someone else may think it is just right. So it wasn't that big of a deal to me.

AMAZING & SUPER CLEAN!
It was AMAZING! Very nice owners and really good cooks! They are super sweet and friendly! We can’t wait to go back there! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud and it was overall incredible and the best place we have ever stayed! WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

Lovely time in a lovely place
This B&B was our second choice for our recent stay in Galveston, but it was a first-rate experience. The hosts were most welcoming and accommodating. We stayed in a ground-floor room with bath that was convenient and nicely decorated. The wine glasses, corkscrew, water in the fridge, and house-made cookies were great! Breakfast was a true Sunday brunch--extremely good and well thought-out. They take dietary needs into consideration, too. Every night they light a fire pit in the back yard for the guests' enjoyment. There are also plenty of seating options in the nicely-landscaped back yard, which includes a side porch straight out of the 1930's. Parking is directly in front of the house, and the house is close to the beach, shopping, and places to eat. Driving is necessary unless you have a bike or really like to walk. We will definitely stay here again.

Awesome bed and breakfast!
Absolutely loved staying here. Close to the beach(within biking distance), super quiet. Felt like we were staying with our favorite family member. Room was gorgeous, breakfast was amazing. We stayed in the European room. Furniture was really beautiful(all looked antique) and matched the theme perfectly. Jacuzzi was an added bonus. Only sight down side is that the bathroom got really warm real quick(jacuzzi is in a separate area). Loved the cookies each day, as well as the fire for s'mores. The details really make this place special. Will definitely be back!!

The inn was purchased in 2018 and completely renovated by the new owners. No more stuffy bathrooms!

Quiet and caring hospitality
Our hosts were very hospitable and kind. We stayed in the Rainforest suite. The bed was comfortable. The large jacuzzi tub was very soothing after a day of touring. Our breakfasts were delightful. The extra room had a small table and two chairs where we sat to read. I could have used a chair with a foot stool. The s'mores around the fire pit each night are an extra touch.

The inn was sold in 2018. The entire home has been renovated. The old Rainforest room was transformed into the Balinese Room and includes a futon with footstool and a desk and chair for your comfort. Come back and experience the new AveO!

Great area, awesome place to stay. We were in the Safari room which was off of the main house but very nice. Our only complaint was the bed itself. Other than that everything was very nice and well beyond explainations

Great B&B!
Connie insured we had a wonderful stay from the moment we walked into the foyer. She greeted us like old friends. We had a tour of the house and then went into the delightful garden. There is a fire pit in the backyard and each night at 8 the fire was lit and Connie provided all the makings for smores! Just a wonderful place and we will be back.

A dream of a stay in Galviston
Our arrival was easy, sans complication and neither parking, nor communications regarding our slightly delayed arrival were any problems. The spacious and unconventionally designed mansion, with its wonderful garden looks like it was ripped straight from a movie - each and every aspect, from the stairs to the "Welcome note", personalized for us, oozed attention to detail that went above and beyond anything we could have expected. The private terrace of the South Pacific room, on which smoking is permitted, was accessible from the bedroom, which was a huge plus. The cleanliness of the place, the conceptually perfect decoration of everything and the warm, kind-hearted welcome were a boon for the weary traveler. The, in the best of ways, charmingly eccentric ambience was further underlined by actually getting a smores-kit to use with the fire pit in the garden, allowing for a romantic after-dinner sit-in while gazing in the embers. Have I mentioned the jacuzzi and the fact that from our welcome to the sumptuous breakfast and the canopy bed EVERYTHING was absolutely perfect? This has been the best B&B experience we ever had - if you expect sterile, cold designs, this won't do. But if you're like us and love attention to detail, heart, character and care beyond anything you usually get to see, if you enjoy the slightly alternative, then this is absolutely perfect!

Jim and Connie the owners were excellent host.The backyard is shaded by large pecan trees making for a nice cool area to sit and relax. They have a fire pit which is lit every evening,greeting you in your room is the makings for s'mores upon arrival.Those wishing an after dinner drink they have liqueurs out making for a nice end to the day.After the liqueurs we retired to our room my wife and i enjoyed a hot soak in the whale tub which is large enough for two.The breakfast each morning consisted of a fruit cup,eggs Ben-e-dict one morning,the next morning a nice breakfast quiche along with muffins,coffee and tea for those who want it.

Great Location, it in the heart of everything
This visit was to be my "64" birthday present to myself.. I will do better research in the future, I thought I had reserved a room inside the house not isolated in the back guest house away from all the other people. I felt I was isolated the whole time I was there. Over all I'd rate it a 7 Hotel staff was Wonderful, Warm and Welcoming. They go Above and Beyond with there Friendliness and Hospitably..S'mores and pit fire at 8pm each nite, cookies left in room etc. Room set up is super cute and pleasing to the eye. But I was very Disappointed in the Sleeping arrangement. and the fact that The bed / mattress was extremely worn out and broken down! ..to soft and your forced to roll to the center of the bed no matter how you try to sleep in it.. I had a hip replacement a few yrs back and I need a firm bed This bed was to difficult to sleep in with my leg and lower back issues I never got ANY sleep either night, what made it even harder on me was the fact that I had picked the only room at the INN with No Bathtub? I had been under the impression from the photo's on the Web site that they had Tubs, I had saw a few on there site so I had assumed I had a bathtub, This room would be nice for a young couple? Not an older single adult with health issues.. I almost left early the second day due to that mattress and the thought of having to sleep in that bad bed a second night! along with the creepy tiny bugs that come out in the bathroom shower area with it turns dark

The inn was sold in 2018 and the new owners have completely renovated the property and refurnished the guest rooms. Saggy mattresses and tiny bugs are forbidden at Tge AveO!

this place was a mistake,and why do you have it
overall we felt we were in the and while we were looking for ice we could not help but over hear how the owner felt about another guest which was filled with anger for not being thanked well enough from the day before i understand we all have a bad day but we really did not need to hear this women rant and cuss for 10 min the only thing we liked was the fire and leaving the next morning if i were Hotels.com i would drop this place now and it make me think twice before using your site in the future

Great B&B for the money
Great experience! We will be returning in the future. The Breakfast was great. Room was clean. Host was very accommodating. We thought the charm of an old house is nice, but the old house, and outer rooms could use some rebuilding. But great for the price. However, do not expect perfection. Nice garden with a gazebo to relax & enjoy the outdoors. Great location- 4 blocks from the beach & restaurants. Parking on the residential street was not a problem.

My husband and I came to Galveston to get away for a quick weekend. Avenue O Bed & Breakfast gave us a great experience. It was just what we needed. We had a warm welcome from the owners with great cookies to start. The hospitality was great throughout - from information about the surrounding to letting us use their bike cruisers to tour the area; daily fresh cookies and water to the amazing breakfasts. The decor was a little unique and different but we love to see the differences among each B&B we stay at. That;s one of the greatest things about staying at B&Bs! Overall, great experience. Thank you.

Seasoned hosts and it shows!
Was the perfect getaway location for a quick overnight relaxing trip to the beach! The hosts were incredibly thoughtful and accommodating! The backyard and room location (Safari Rm) was private, cozy, and unique. The room amenities were perfect including a vanity, TV, DVD player, ironing board, soaps, and homemade chocolate chip cookies!! The hot freshly cooked breakfast in the main house was delicious and filling. It was also nice to get to meet the other guests. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would stay again.

All in all a nice place
Wonderful location. The owner, Connie, was the nicest lady! The room had a comfy feeling. Soft sheets and nice décor. It was somewhat dusty and grungy looking. Needed some deep cleaning for sure. The mirror in bath feel off wall and would not go back up. Water pressure in shower was terrible. Had 2 amazing cookies in the room with 2 bottles of water, nice touch. A few lamps not plugged in so we had to crawl under bed and do that as well. All in all it was a great stay and the breakfast was THE BEST !!
