Great winter stay!

Cozy cabin vibes with plenty of room! We stayed here go ski at nearby Chestnut Mountain. Just under a 20 min drive to Chestnut. Looks like there is lots of fun things to do near the property in warmer weather as well!

Second stay here!

This was our second time staying at this beautiful condo. The communication with the host was excellent and very professional anytime I had a question. The location is just a few minutes away from downtown galena, it is peaceful and scenic. The condo was super clean and had everything we needed to make our stay very comfortable. I highly recommend this place, it was awesome!

Absolutely wonderful

My husband and I stayed here with our 2 doodles. It was absolutely perfect! The condo was very nice and clean the location was excellent. Communication with the owner was top notch. We loved that it was an end unit with woods in the back. Stocked with all the necessities even a Keurig with coffee pods :) we really loved our stay and would not hesitate to come back and we look forward to it!!!!!! Thanks for everything!!!!!!!

Great place, as described. However, upon arrival crumbs on kitchen chairs and on floor under table, around garbage can, and around table in living room. Bathroom had toothpaste splatter on wall and appeared to be urine on master toilet. Nothing that we could not just clean up ourselves, but should not have to do this. The kitchen and bedrooms very clean.

Stay in the Galena Territories

This was a very cozy condo to stay in! Not that we needed it, but I thought it a nice touch that it did have laundry detergent supplied. Paper towels, dish soap, shampoo & conditioner, and all soaps being supplied was nice, too. It did smell a bit musty when we arrived, but nothing too terrible. The listing did say there was a grill on site but the owner took it off property previous to our stay as it had broken. Just wish I had known before I brought a bunch of grillable food. The unit was definitely spacious and the location was excellent! The amenities of the owners clubhouse was a fantastic bonus! The gym and pool were awesome. Overall, I give it 5 stars especially with ease of check in and timely communication with hosts, who were very nice!

Pleasant & Peaceful Stay

Property was very clean and welcoming. Great and friendly communication from the host who was willing to accommodate and fix things to satisfy our needs if needed. Place will need a new screen door and king mattress soon as well as some bathroom updates but, worked well enough and was comfy enough for our trip. Has a super cute kitchen with great appliances and overall was a very pleasant stay! Location was great - secluded enough to give the feeling we were away from it all but, still a close drive to great walking trails and to the main restaurant/store there in the territory. We (physically) weren’t prepared for all the hills LOL but, if you can survive them, a walk around the neighborhood is well worth it! Gorgeous area-especially during the fall and the drive to downtown Galena was beautiful/not too far.

Convenience and Amenities

The Walnut Hill Hideaway was a beautiful gem in the Galena Territory! The hosts were so kind and very communicative. The house was fully equipped with lots of household needs, including all kitchen amenities, bathroom items, and a grill with propane (including an extra tank), along with outdoor cushions and plenty of games. The house was very clean, and being pet friendly, there were no signs/smells of previous pet stays. Our pup loved the property as well, since it was wooded and private with many convenient green areas and very walkable. There are many perks to this location. Across the parking lot is an outdoor (semi) private pool. At the end of the main road is the golf course, hot air balloon rides, and spa. Within a 5 minute drive, a lake & marina, restaurant/bar, owners club, and country store. Not to mention, the short 10 minute drive to Galena’s Main Street, and 30 minutes to many features that Iowa and Wisconsin have to offer. Don’t hesitate to book!!

We had a nice stay. The space could use a good cleaning and some repair work - cobwebs in corners, hair on wall in primary bathroom shower, linens in the dryer still, leaky kitchen sink, towels are lower quality/faded/old, missing drawer pulls, peeling finishes on cabinets, stains on bathroom flooring, etc. Minor things, but not ideal. Due to the weather, accessing the space was difficult because the sidewalks and stairs were snow covered. Due to the different levels of the home, temperatures varied significantly indoors. We would be roasting upstairs and the main floor was still very cold. Again, nothing major, but certainly something worth noting. Positives: lovely views, plenty of beds, coffee provided, games, lots of spots for eating, fairly well stocked kitchen (needs a large bowl for mixing/salads), good tech for entertainment, nice throw blankets. This was a good spot for our family of four. Lots of stairs both to access the unit (not in pictures) and within the unit - not a fit for those with mobility issues.
