Wonderful clean place, the quietness and privacy were amazing,

Well exceeded our expectations, amazing accommodation with everything provided and every detail thought through. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. We had a private terrace and main use of the pool as the other guests were out most days. The bed was super comfy and the whole place was cleaned during our week which was fabulous - even supplied beach towels. Close to the old town we felt we were in the perfect spot.

Gem of a place

Lovely little apartment with everything we needed, beautiful setting with huge terrace overlooking the bay in Funchal. Great location for old town, pleasant 10 minute walk to restaurants even though bit steep in places. Mara the housekeeper was so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommended!

Fantastic rental location and venue. This host and her team are amazing with all the attention to detail and some welcome fruit and treats after a long day of travelling. Enjoyed the infinity pool and late night sunsets on the patio! Would definitely book this place again in a heartbeat!!

Entspannung pur

Just like paradise!

Actually, the other comments have already said (almost) everything ... We had the pleasure to stay in Patricia's apartment for three weeks and it was a fantastic time. Even though we had to wait 5 days for our luggage and our children had an infection for almost a week! The apartment, the grounds and its location are perfect and Carlos, Mara and especially Patricia have taken great care of everything. She is definitely a super host! One of the few things that was not mentioned in the other comments, but which was an extra highlight for us was the fact that from Patricia's property, after being briefed by Carlos, one could reach a private bay via a very steep staircase. It is rocky like almost all the other bays on Madeira, but at low tide you can swim there and fish from the rocks. Right in the middle of Funchal - incredible. Thanks again for everything. We will come back!

Home from home......

Great location in the Old Town and the elevated position means there are beautiful views over the sea and to Funchal. Greeted by Mara, the housekeeper, who made us very welcome. She showed us round the property and there was a lovely welcome pack of provisions. Property was spotlessly clean and well appointed. We met Carlos, the property owner, on many occasions and he was always keen to ensure that everything was OK for us and to ask if we needed anything. Useful notes of recommended restaurants and activities, which we tried and enjoyed. The environment is very comfortable and welcoming and we would definitely recommend the property and very much hope to return ourselves.

Amazing place!

Patricia's place was perfect! We were met by Mara (the housekeeper) at the gates who showed us around. She was lovely and very helpful throughout the stay. We didn't meet Patricia but her dad Carlos who was also very friendly. We travel a lot and have stayed in many nice places, but Patricia's was the best we've stayed in and we'd love to come back, for the following reasons: -Perfect location - 5 mins to the first restaurants and bars, yet very quiet and peaceful -Amazing views and stunning garden -Very well equipped apartment - everything you might need is there (sunbed towels, kitchen accessories, spacious walk in wardrobe, super comfortable bed, great blackout curtains, BBQ complete with charcoal and fire lighters, washing machine; which was used twice as we got pretty muddy doing the levada walks! even washing tablets provided) -For all coffee lovers: machine in the apartment seemed to be better than our Nespresso one. There were a few capsules provided but we bought some stronger ones from the supermarket and the coffee was amazing -One of the loveliest touches was fresh fruit, a bottle of wine and some snacks; all of which were very welcomed after a late evening flight -Great hospitality - we felt like we wanted to stay there for months and were sad to leave! -No problem parking outside - one of the quieter streets and there was always plenty of room to park -Spotlessly clean -Apartment was very spacious (big shower too) and the terrace also very large -In another review someone said: "They really mastered the balance of being just the right amount of helpful and we really appreciated their presence" - we couldn't agree more! -Even the wifi was good!! -Patricia also provided a guide with recommended restaurants; we tried a lot of them and we were really happy with her suggestions -Top tip; don't follow the SatNav shortest route suggestion to use Tv. Do Lazereto to enter/exit Funchal; this is an incredibly steep (and narrow) road. Best to use R. da Ribeira de João Gomes. We would recommend an automatic or at least a decent powered manual (diesel preferable for the pulling power) for driving around due to the incredible hills; we had a small manual petrol car last time and the clutch was constantly smelling of burning! Soooo much easier this time with an auto. We are not surprised she is classed as a 'superhost' - you can see that everything has been organised in a very thoughtful way and all that is left to do is relax!

The perfect place to stay

We could not have been more pleased with this villa, set in a peaceful residential area away from the large hotels etc. of Funchal. The small villa was part of a larger house occupied by a Madeiran family and they and Mara, their friendly and charming housekeeper, could not have been more welcoming and helpful. It was a pleasant short walk to the old port of Funchal with a good selection of restaurants en route. We had our own secluded terrace with plenty of shade by the side of the accommodation and another private roof terrace with superb views of Funchal. We will be returning!

Haus am Meer was will man mehr...

Little bit of heaven

The scenery is something that can only be descrived as breathtaking. The imense blue ocean at our feet, an infinity pool facing the city landscape and the quietness of a semi-tropical climate. All this 10 mn away from the city center on foot. To return again and again. Thank you Patrícia and Mara for everything

Amazing Place

The apartment is very nice and is very well decorated. It's fresh, new and very clean. The view (to the sea and Funchal bay) is fantastic and the balcony with the Chaise longue is perfect for a rest at the end of the day and to have some drinks. The swimming pool (shared with other apartment) is very nice and you can swim with a fantastic view in front of your eyes. The location is very good because you can walk to the city center (10-15 min), you can use the public transports (bus stop in the street) or, if you rent a car, you can park very easily in the street (free of charge). So, this is the perfect place to enjoy Funchal and Madeira Island!
