Surroundings of La Laguna de Fuente de Piedra
Protected area of almost 1400 hectares. Of an extension of 6.5 km in length and 2.5 km in width. Nesting place for many types of birds. Its saline water produces a vegetation of great botanical value.

The Laguna de Fuente de Piedra is recognized throughout Europe for receiving the largest colony of pink flamingos being in March, April and May when the breeding season begins. The ringing of these birds is of great interest to the scientific community.

In winter we can see anatidae and cranes in the countryside surrounding the lagoon. 170 different species of birds have their place of breeding, wintering or migratory passage here, especially aquatic as the laughing gull, the pigeon or the heron.

PATH OF THE ALBINES
It begins in the Juncares and surrounds the northern area of La Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, ending at the Vicaria bend. Occupied by steppe birds such as the stone curlew, the calandria and the lesser kestrel.

In wet years we observe waterfowl such as Mallard, Flamingo, Plover, Avocet and Stork, among others.

It is important to take binoculars.

This path leads us to the smaller vessels of La Laguna de Fuente de Piedra.

It begins in the vicinity of the visitor center José Antonio Valverde and surrounds the two observatories from all types of birds existing around it.
