FISHING
Great fishing can be had right off your dock on Upper and Lower Herring Lake. Please catch and release, especially on Lower and Upper Herring Lakes. For fishermen who like to cast near Lake Michigan, both Frankfort and Elberta have fishing piers on Lake Betsie, which is essentially Frankfort Harbor. It is known for salmon, brown trout, steelhead, smallmouth bass, and catfish.
On calm days, locals like to fish from the north and south cement breakwater piers that reach way out into Lake Michigan.
The Frankfort Tackle Box on Main St has bait, tackle, licenses and great advice. For salmon, lake trout and steelhead charters, I recommend Power Trip or Tiny Bubbles.

We really enjoyed the lake the paddle boards and kayaks. Short drive the beach! I wish the grill worked, it was full of water and rusted. That would be my only suggestions for improvement.

The interior of the cabin was very nice. It has a big bathroom, new furniture and a fully stocked kitchen. But my favorite part was the lovely lake with the beautiful view. I floated in a tube and used the paddle boards every day that we were there. The lake is crystal clear but the bottom is mucky so bring your water shoes. At night, we sat at the end of the dock and watched the sky change colors.
The owners were friendly and helpful and gave us good restaurant recommendations. We had several great meals in Frankfort and I loved the shopping. We look forward to coming back next year.

Not worth the price. Grounds unkept, grass not cut, area cluttered. Cabin in disrepair. Not a resort feel at all. More like low rent trailer park. Will not return.

This property was clean and right on the lake. The beds are very firm, so if you need extra support you better bring it. They also have access to kayaks, paddle boards, and row boats. All in all it was a pretty good stay.

Property is quiet and peaceful. 15 minute scenic drive to town. Nice assortment of kayaks and SUPs. Communication with the owner was great! Only complaint was one night we had an issue with small flying bugs around the air conditioner that were attracted to light. We were told they’re harmless.

This is right where you want to be. On a beautiful lake with spectacular sunsets, near Lake Michigan, hiking, dunes and fun. New home, right on the lake. We loved the kayaks. Saw herons and eagles. We didn’t want it to end

We had such a great experience! The property, lake and cabins were beautiful. The lake had a great swimming area, and they had kayaks, paddle boards and row boats to use which was an awesome bonus!!! Lake Michigan is less than 15 minutes away and there were many hiking trails very close by. The hosts were so nice and greeted us when we arrived. I would highly recommend this property!

What a gem. The place was clean and nicely decorated. Great view from inside. The best part was the dock and sitting outside to watch the sunset. Very quiet location. The kayaks and paddleboards were a huge bonus! Used them everyday and kids loved it.
