HAVE YOUR HOLIDAY GATHERING AT THE SHADY PINE!

We're excited to share The Shady Pine with you!

The cabin is newly furnished and extra cozy. It's well equipped with lightning fast fiber optic WIFI, Smart TV, a full kitchen, coffee bar, and an extra-long dining table. All beds are brand new and all linens are white. Outside you'll find the hot tub, firepit, and lots of rocking chairs and seating options.

There is a ping-pong table, corn hole boards, mini air-hockey table, old time record player, TV with video games and a DVD player with movies in the garage. Great spot for kids or to flip open the garage doors on a nice day and enjoy time with family and friends. You will also find an old-timey, hand crank, ice cream maker for your use.

Outdoors, there are lots of relaxing options from the covered porch, outdoor breakfast table, rocking chairs, and firepit. And, don't forget the hot tub!

There are several marinas who rent by the hour or day. The Shady Pine is located 1.5 miles from Browns Ford boat ramp. Plenty of parking and trailer storage.

We have two, adult-size KAYAKS for your use during boating season (April 15-Oct 15). We will also provide (2) adult-size life jackets,(2) child-size life jackets, and oars.

**Please note: Our walkway to the cove is 120 steps and may be difficult for small children or some older people to manage.

Cove Conditions:
Please Note: Barren River Lake is at summer pool April 15-Oct 15. Our cove varies in depth during this time from 3' to 30' depending on how much rain we get and the Corp of Engineers. We are at the lower/fishing end of the lake, always good for kayaking during summer pool.

Our cove could be dry during Oct 15-March 15. But, still a great atmosphere and plenty of nature to explore.

Great spot.

Area is great for fishing. Water was 30 feet above summer pool. If water was closer to normal depth, this part of the lake would be ideal for bass, crappie, catfish, and any panfish you might be fishing for.

Wonderful Fall Break

It was beautiful, clean, the “extras” of s’mores, fire pit materials, hot tub towels, the bin full of personal care items commonly left at home were above and beyond any VRBO we have ever stayed in. Thank you to our hospitable hosts and we will be visiting again!

Great House in the woods

The house is beautiful. The surrounding area is beautiful. The house is well stocked so everything you need, was very peaceful. We walked down to the lake and the garage/basement with all the games and things in it was an amazing asset. We had a wonderful time.

This is how it should be when you rent a home.

Our stay at this cabin was wonderful! The hosts ensure that you are well taken care of. Opening up their home, every part of it. One of my biggest pet peves staying in rentals is the host has so many rules, or things you can't do, or you literally have to bring everything to enjoy your stay. At this cabin, they know how to host! They thought of it all, offering to use anything they have and offering all the suppliers you need to not have to worry about making a store run. We were so relaxed staying here. Very cozy, decorated perfectly and not too far from places to venture too. We were greated with a sweet welcome gift and it topped the stay off like a cherry on a sundae. Beds were comfortable, hot tub was relaxing, games were fun to play, and the basement area was also a good place to hang out in. Truly will come here again. Thank you for sharing your home with us, it was beautiful.

Perfect!

The cabin is beautiful! All our expectations were met and exceeded during our three-night stay. Four teenagers were never bored, even on a rainy day! We live within an hour's drive and will definitely return.

Amazing property with lots of extras!

Great time, the property is very well cared for and the owners seemed to anticipate every need you might have for a stay. Hot tub, lake below, beautiful deck, well furnished and decorated. Lots of extra thoughtful touches made it a comfortable experience. Would definitely stay again!

Mammoth cave spring break

Very cute, well stocked with plenty of activities to keep a group happy. Bedding and towels were very nice. Plenty of kitchen cookwear and dishes so you don’t have to run the dishwasher after every meal! Nice cabin atmosphere but you do have some neighbors that seem to be part time. Great rental!

Best place in KY!

This property was absolutely spectacular. I was able to work remotely while my family enjoyed many of the attractions in the area. It was very peaceful and a real treat. The Internet is smoking hot so you’ll be just fine working from one of the many rooms or comfortable outdoor seating areas. When you walk in it’s like you’re stepping in to a virtual environment, everything is labeled, in a good way. Enjoy!

Perfection!

This is probably one of the most well appointed vacation homes we’ve ever stayed in! It’s beautifully decorated with tons of personality and charm. The owners go the extra mile to make your stay special. Our kids (ranging from 4-15) had fun in the game room every day. The adults loved hanging in the hot tub at night and listening to the cicadas. We visited Mammoth Cave, Barren River Lake State Park, and Dinosaur World during our trip. We’ll be back!

Warm Welcome

From the minute we walked into the house, we felt welcomed. Carefully placed, hand-written cards encouraged us to enjoy all the place had to offer. The space is well-designed for a larger group. The kitchen had every thing you'd need to cook big dinners to serve around a wonderful dining room table. The home was wonderfully decorated and clean. The host was easy to reach with any questions. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to take advantage of all there was to enjoy. We have already recommended the place to others who plan to be in the area.

Fabulous!

This property was crystal clean and everything seemed to be brand new. The owner left helpful notes and instructions and had many extras for us, such as K cups and creamer for the Keurig, laundry soap, a cabinet full of spices, marshmallows, chocolate and crackers for smores, and much more. Beds were top quality, hot tub was amazing, loved the fire pit and the indoor fireplace! An exceptional find!!!!

I loved everything about The Shady Pine. My family and I enjoyed it so much that the day we checked out was bittersweet! The beds were comfortable- better than any hotel we could have stayed at. It was clean, beautifully prepared and designed. The attention to detail was amazing. All of the amenities are amazing. Melissa was always prompt with communication and any questions I had. She left a personalized note with the house manual when we arrived. We can’t wait to book our stay for next year and hope to start making the Shady Pine a family tradition!

Weekend at Shady Pine

We stayed at Shady Pine on Barren River for a small weekend getaway for a friend to celebrate her getting married in October. The cabin was beautiful inside and out! The rooms were amazing and the beds were so comfy! It was such a fun and cozy place. It felt like being in Gatlinburg without traveling very far! The cabin had everything you would need and activities, such a corn-hole boards, pingpong tables, and air hockey! They blankets for the fire were great and there was even a s’mores kit left for us. Also had little notes throughout the cabin explaining things. The list could go on for how amazing the stay was. I will definitely recommend this cabin and hope to stay again in the future! ☺️

Husband’s Birthday

I booked this cabin for my husband’s 36th birthday weekend. I can’t give enough great reviews to this property. Everything was immaculate. There were so many little details that made it perfect. The kitchen was fully stocked. Everything you could possibly need was already there. The beds were super comfortable. There were plenty of towels and blankets. The downstairs was a great hang out area. The spacious deck was perfect for grilling out. When we needed something during the weekend, the running joke was “I bet the cabin already has it!” Melissa was an excellent host. She checked to make sure we made it and was easily accessible all weekend. We will definitely book again! This cabin is a gem close to home we didn’t know about.

Perfect Weekend Getaway!

Our stay at The Shady Pine can only be described as perfect! The house was very clean with nice furnishings and had just about everything amenity you could need. All the little details from blankets for the fire, smores sticks (and a basket of ingredients to make smores!), even 2 types of flour and sugar make this place stand head and shoulders above all the places we have rented over the years. The dining porch was a favorite for meals and hours of games that we played. The walk down to the stairs and boardwalk to the dock was nice and while the cove was dried up in November, we still spent time exploring along the cove shore with our kids. We also went and did some hiking over at the state park which was only about 20 minutes away. While the weekend went by way too quickly, we will have some nice memories to hold us over until we can return again in the near future. Thank you for sharing it with us!

My 65th Birthday Celebration

I loved staying in this house with my family and good friend. We had everything we needed to prepare great meals in the kitchen. Everyone loved gathering around the large dining table surrounded by windows and all appreciated the nice coffee bar with mini fridges, which we stocked full of adult beverages. The outdoor sitting areas were comfortable and relaxing, and we spent a great deal of time utilizing the areas. Although we didn't kayak, we did walk the stairs and walkway for exercise. Very nice, quiet neighborhood. 4 crazy women had so much fun playing Ping-Pong. One afternoon we rented a pontoon from Narrows Marina to venture out on the lake. It was a great time for everyone, and although the boat was very nice and comfortable we all jumped into the lake and floated around in the freshing summer pool.

Fantastic location and well kept lake house!

I visited Shady Pine with my parents and family (8 in total) and we all had a wonderful time. House is well stocked and comfortable. Basement game room was a hit with the entire family. We ended up renting a pontoon one day and had a blast trying to fling the kids off the tube and swimming in the lake. Couple notes for anyone considering staying here: - Do it! It's a really nice house and the location is great. Bait shop is nearby if you're interested in fishing and the kayaks are in great shape and super fun to take out on the lake. - Owner was very responsive and helpful to any questions we had. Felt very comfortable asking her advice about nearby stores or letting her know when we had a question about the house. - This part of the lake isn't great for swimming. We tried...but the water was only ~3 feet deep. We ended up splashing around for a bit (and losing one shoe) but it isn't the type of dock you can really jump off. It may be higher other times of year. You can however take the kayaks out and find a swimming spot (it gets deeper out of cove) or it's a pretty quick drive to the Barren River State Park which has a nice beach and boat rentals. - The dock is down a lot of stairs and across a long boardwalk. My be challenging for some older folks, but the kids and I made the trek several times to go fishing and kayaking. - Hot tub was clean and in great condition. We kept it pretty cool because it was 90+ the entire weekend we were there. - There are a couple houses within eyesight but we only saw one other person for half a day or so. Felt really private most of the time.
