Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you're well organised. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Greenland holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• It's simple — first, pack your passport, travel documents, bank cards and medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy novel and a tablet crammed with your favourite shows are some terrific options. If you intend to take a short nap, a comfy neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, leave space for a few toiletry items to ensure you hop off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

• Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and matches, are also not allowed.
