• You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your legs and feet often.

• Security personnel first need to determine that you have a valid passport and travel documents before you can proceed any further. Have them ready to show.

• The right choice of footwear can save you several precious minutes. Boots are often required to be removed and X-rayed separately. Slip-on sneakers are usually not.
• Airlines will not allow any sharp objects in your carry-on baggage. If you need to bring these kinds of items, pack them safely in your checked luggage.
