"Great place to stay for a few days rest and relaxation. The location is great for walks, dog walks, beach walks or just having a few days in a quiet location to chill.
The hotel manager (Caroline) and staff are incredibly helpful and attentive. The bar and restaurant are constantly busy with locals and visitors that makes for a great friendly atmosphere.
The food was exceptional. It is evident that it’s all home cooked and care and attention is given to taste and quality.
The bedroom was clean and comfortable and just the right size for two of us and bags for a two day stay. Bathroom was very clean with an absolutely fantastic shower.
Thoroughly recommend both the hotel and area for a peaceful few days away.

"We spent a night at the Wheatsheaf, to break the long drive from Scotland to Berkshire. Our room, although not huge, was clean, with crisp, white bed linen on a very comfy bed, and with lovely views of the pretty village church. Although warned about the frequent bell ringing, it did not disturb us in any way. Nice, white towels were provided in the shower room. Lucy and her team couldn't have been more welcoming, efficient, and helpful. It was convenient to be able to enjoy our evening meal in this very popular, old village inn, full of character, and breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty. We would certainly stay here again. The only negative for some, might be the lack of a lift, but staff will happily carry your bag upstairs for you. Oh, and there is a free car park opposite for guests."
"I put in the postcode but car sat nav directed me as far as the local pub only! After turning down a wrong lane past the pub in the pitch dark (9pm on an October evening) ascending up at a dead end I rang the owner who instructed me to carry on past the pub for another 2 miles!
I eventually arrived at a building signposted as the ‘equestrian centre’ so I drove a bit further and ended up driving around some lane in a woods (surrounded by curious deer and badgers!). I rang the owner again and found their farm yard nearly getting stuck in the mud! I rang again and kind gentleman at the farm directed me to the house. By this time I was a bit stressed (late and had a long journey)but soon as I entered the house and was shown to my room, all this melted away! The room was lovely and bed was super comfy. The house was so quiet so had a great nights sleep, mind you I was the only one staying there. The morning greeted me with a picture perfect view out the window, as you can see from the photo. The owner greeted me with a lovely breakfast cooked to perfection. I normally stay in premier inns when on business, mainly due to the ease of finding them when having travelled along way during the night. This place though is definitely one I will come back to if working in the area (now I know how to find it!). As me and the wife love walking the hills in the lakes, this place will also be high our list to stay at.
Beautiful house, location, breakfast and lovely hosts. "
