"The lodge is well located in the Hillcrest area, close to the Main Road with it's shops and restaurants. Bev the hostess was very welcoming and seemed prepared to go out of her way to assist her guests. The breakfast in the morning was varied and good. "This is the best place to stay in Pietermaritzburg! The location is perfect for anyone affiliated with the university - literally across the street. "My first 2 days were double booked so they moved me to another guest house, which was actually good but I had to go back to Eagle for breakfast!! On day 3 they put me in room 1. It was very large with a comfortable bed, however 1. The safe was broken 2. There was no plug in the bath. They said there was a water shortage. Eventually, the next day I got a plug. Their pool was "green" and unusable. The TV did not work. They changed it twice but I never got to see a program. When they finally said it was sorted when I clicked on a program a message came up saying rhe max number of users had been reached so I could not access it. I finally gave up. The young lady in charge of breakfast and my room was outstanding."
