We have been to Estes at least once a year for the last 15 years. This was one of the best places we have stayed. Beautiful cabin with wonderful views, close to downtown and Safeway. Direct route to RMNP. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.
This homey house is our favorite Estes Park getaway by far. I think this was our 4th stay here and we are completely spoiled by this perfect place and ideal location. We will keep coming here as long as it is available!
Rockhedge is a beautiful & cozy home nestled among the mountains of Estes Park. Amenities include a large wood burning fireplace with lots of firewood provided, a fully stocked kitchen with upscale appliances, dishes, glassware, spices & condiments, coffee beans with a grinder, and an abundant book collection. The decor is comfortable and inviting, and mountain views are in every window. Boulders surrounding the property provide privacy, and the Owners and Property Manager are helpful and courteous. We will definitely book Rockhedge on our next Estes trip!
The home was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was well stocked to suit our needs, very clean, and in a great location. Thank you for sharing your lovely historical home with us!
We loved our stay at Rockhedge. The pictures really don’t do the home justice. They’ve done a great job of maintaining the historic home. The property is so convenient to RMNP as well as the main drag in Estes Park. Our boys loved the stay too. We spotted a marmot a few times on the rocks outside and a massive buck on our last morning. Definitely recommend and would stay here again.
A wonderful property for our family of 4. This beautiful home is a historic gem updated with all of the modern amenities. Great location (walking distance to town and a short drive to RMNP). This was a wonderful place to stay and we would definitely recommend it for a relaxing and quiet
family getaway.
Really appreciate the communication of the owners and property manager. The location was so close to Estes Park, you could walk - if you don’t mind the hills.
This home was perfect for our family of 5. Inside, every detail is thought of and it feels like home. Outside, you can enjoy frisbee golf or enjoy nature with a cup of coffee. Such a lovely place to stay.
The home was exactly as listed and has loads of charm. My family was attending a wedding in Estes Park and it was a perfect location for us. We had a herd of elk that visited us two mornings which was very cool. Everyone greatly enjoyed the house.
What a delightful home--so many windows with lovely views. We loved the home's comfortable furnishings and original Art Deco architectural details. Although we didn’t cook more than breakfast, I apprecoated the real cook's kitchen complete with Viking stove, good cookware and sets of china and silverware. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful but just a short drive from grocery store, shopping and downtown.Maybe best of all, we saw a large bull elk on the lawn the first morning.Durango and her assistant Toon responded quickly to questions. The property is lovingly maintained.
We really enjoyed our stay. The property was as depicted, clean and well appointed. I especially loved the immense collection of cookbooks. My young nieces especially enjoyed scrambling over the boulders in the backyard and building a “secret” reading nook under the stairs. Highly recommend for a stay in Estes Park.
Beautiful, well-furnished house on 1+ acre, walking distance to town but in a very quiet location. Easy access to Fall River RMNP entrance. Attentive/responsive owners and maintenance crew. A sanctuary!
Rockhedge did not disappoint. The arts and crafts charm, plus the comfort and convenience provided by the owners’ careful restoration of this historic property made our stay a delight. The location’s easy access to just about everything was an added bonus. Best VRBO experience yet!
Great location. Very quiet area, close to several restaurants. Rocky Mountain National park is everything and more and only about 10 minutes from the house. Be aware there is no TV in the living area, only in two of the three bedrooms. Third bedroom is a loft. Would definitely stay there again
I grew up in Estes, and graduated high school there many, many, many years ago. Rockhedge is how you want to do Estes Park and Rocky Mountain Nat’l Park. Place is beautiful and in a great private location with possible wildlife sighting from your window … We Will Be Back!!!
10/2025: Was super impressed with this property. I've never seen a cleaner place! Beds were very comfy. The 2 bedrooms on the main floor had blackout blinds, so was perfectly dark in the mornings, which I so appreciate. Three times we saw a flock of turkeys go along the road, up to 22 of them at one time. So cool! Great water pressure, lots of hot water, deep (and SUPER CLEAN) bathtub, a fire was laid in for us, such a gorgeously restored house!! Tiles in bathrooms were gorgeous (and SUPER CLEAN), hardwood floors were so smooth and clean also! Lots of beautiful old-timey furniture! Great ambiant lighting! A very stunning house, with lots of space, indoors and out! Loved it!
We enjoyed are stay. The house was right up from the Stanley Hotel. It had large boulders on the side of the house that the children loved climbing on. The grocery store was near by but the house is somewhat secluded which was nice. My other daughter stayed in a home near by. The house met our needs and was comfortable. The property managers was very responsive. We would stay here again.
Amazingly beautiful home with all of the amenities one needs for a short or lengthy stay. In a word, charming! It is spacious, yet cozy with beautiful surrounding rocks and tress. Located just moments away from downtown restaurants and shopping, and of course at the base of Rocky Mountain National Park, this is a great location. Today we played frisbee golf in the front yard, spending quality time together.
Perfect getaway, very clean, top notch appliances. Wish we could’ve stayed longer. Next time we’re out this way we would definitely stay here again. Super quiet and peaceful. No TV in the main room was plus (our daughter actually had to communicate with us). Very relaxing. Thank you, the Schell’s
Rockhedge is a gem. We visited recently with our adult granddaughter and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is beautifully restored, spotless, spacious, comfortable, quiet, fully stocked, has lots of plants, artwork and books, and is conveniently located near the Stanley Hotel but away from the busyness. It is on a very pretty lot with outdoor seating and views of the pink rocks adjacent to Lumpy Ridge. It has a wonderful fireplace for the cool evenings. Highly recommend this property.
