Witness spectacular views of Geneva fromone of the city’s most beloved parks, the English Garden (Jardin Anglais). Wanderits manicured grounds to enjoy pleasing cottage-style gardens, fluorescentfloral displays and one of Geneva’s iconic landmarks, the Horloge Fleurie.

Founded in 1854, the English Garden wascreated to bring life to the landscape around the harbour. Explore over 2.5hectares (6.1 acres) of parkland by the water. Navigate the park using itsmeandering walking paths, which boast picture-perfect views of Lake Geneva andthe Mont Blanc Bridge.

The English Garden is alive with people,colours and aromas. Take advantage of a summer day while you enjoy the stilltrees or play ball games on wide lawns. Spot the park’s decorative fountains,then look to the lake and watch the spectacular Jet d’Eau spurt a 140-metre(450-foot) column of water from the centre of the harbour.

The Horloge Fleurie is the city’s famedflower clock. Its enormous 5-metre (16.4-foot) face is made up of over 6,000different species of flower, all placed to create a whimsical display. Visitthroughout the year to find different designs as the flowers are changedseasonally.

Be sure to visit the National Monument,which stands in commemoration of the unification between Geneva andSwitzerland. Built in 1869, it is one of the city’s most treasured landmarks.

Join crowds at the park’s bandstand forfree concerts, which are held often. Check the park’s event schedule to findout what’s on and when. After enjoying the natural scenery, find entertainmentalong the adjacent Quai Gustave-Ador. This thoroughfare features gourmet restaurants,fine wine shops and a mini-train tour for the kids.

Access the English Garden on foot fromthe Old Town. This walk is short and downhill. Otherwise, use the city’s frequentbus routes. The park does not charge admission and is best visited early andlate, when crowds are scarce.
