Creekhouse on Tails Creek - Luxury 4BR - Hear the Water From Bed

Wake up to the sound of Tails Creek. Not an alarm. Not traffic. Just cold mountain water moving over rock, right outside your bedroom window.
The Creekhouse was built with one purpose: to be a place where people actually unwind. Three floors, four bedrooms, and more than 3,500 square feet of thoughtfully finished space — but what our guests remember most is the sound of that creek from the back deck rocking chairs.
The Setting
Tucked into the North Georgia mountains with complete privacy — no visible neighbors, no road noise — the Creekhouse sits along Tails Creek, which flows directly into Carters Lake just 1.8 miles downstream. Carters Lake is one of Georgia's most pristine reservoirs: 62 miles of undeveloped shoreline, no private docks, no lakefront homes. Just water, forest, and quiet. It's exceptional for fishing, kayaking, and morning walks.
Downtown Ellijay — known for its apple orchards, boutiques, wineries, and farm-to-table restaurants — is 13 minutes away.
Inside the Cabin
The main floor opens into an airy great room with a 72" smart TV above a gas fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen designed for people who actually cook, and a dining peninsula wrapped in windows facing the woods. The primary bedroom features a king bed, creek views, crackable windows so you fall asleep to the water, and a reading nook that earns its keep on rainy afternoons.
Upstairs, a second bedroom with twin beds sits alongside a dedicated game room — darts, oversized wall chess, wall Scrabble, and another 72" TV. Downstairs, two additional king bedrooms share a double-vanity bath, a Keurig coffee bar, a private deck, and two hammocks strung for afternoon naps.
Throughout the cabin, you'll find original artwork — paintings and limited prints that give the space a personal character you won't find in a standard rental.
The Deck
The back deck is where the stay really happens. Rocking chairs, a couch, swivel seating, an outdoor dining table for 8, a gas fireplace, and a 52" weatherproof TV. When the creek is running strong after a rain, it's a sound machine that no app can replicate.
The Details
Fiber internet (fast enough to work remotely if you need to). Smart lock entry. Gas grill. Keurig on every floor. Three smart TVs. Full laundry. Parking for multiple vehicles.
This is a cabin for people who want nature and comfort — not a choice between them.

On the Water:
Carters Lake — 1.8 miles away; kayak rentals, fishing (bass, crappie, walleye), no jet skis, genuinely quiet
Cartecay River — fly fishing, tubing, 19 min away
Tails Creek in your backyard — wade fishing for trout in season

In Town (13 min):
Ellijay's downtown square — boutiques, antique shops, year-round farmers market
Hillside Orchard, Mercier Orchards — apple picking in season, fresh cider year-round
Cartecay Vineyards, Engelheim Vineyards — wine tasting a short drive away
Ellijay Brewing Co. — local craft beer

On the Trails

Ridgeway Recreation Area — 10 min drive, hiking and lake access
Rich Mountain Wilderness — serious hiking, old-growth forest
Cohutta Wilderness — one of the largest wilderness areas in the Eastern U.S.

Worth the Drive

Blue Ridge, GA — 30 min; charming mountain town, scenic railroad, more restaurants
Amicalola Falls State Park — ~45 min; stunning waterfalls, the start of the Appalachian Trail approach

Amazing Property

This was an awesome property! Not only was the place amazing but the owners were super responsive. My kids had a great time playing in the creek. There is a waterfall hike less then 2 miles from the house that the whole family enjoyed. I've stayed in a ton of cabins and this is without a doubt one of the most well stocked kitchens I have ever stayed at. If I could give it more then 5 stars I would. We will definitely be back!

Perfection

This place far surpassed our expectations. Not only is it a beautiful cabin but situated perfectly for beautiful views of the creek, trees and foliage. We had a great fire down by the creek one night and has everything needed to roast marshmallows or hot dogs. The cabin is very well stocked, we cooked a lot. The beds were very comfortable and linens were soft. Game room was awesome. Loved the wall scrabble game. Hope to return again!

Luxurious and relaxing stay at the Creek House in Ellijay

My husband and I have stayed in many cabins throughout the Smoky Mountains in both Tennessee and North Carolina areas and this is for sure one of the best cabins we have stayed in out of all of our vacations! There was so much to enjoy and appreciate in this rental from both the cabin to the property. Everything was exceptionally clean, and there was so much attention to detail throughout the entire cabin. We enjoyed laying in the hammocks and watching TV by the fireplace outside on the porches. It was such a treat to hear the creek while inside the cabin and while on the property. We would definitely stay here again and recommend anyone else staying here!

The Creek House was beautiful! The view, the creek was mesmerizing. You have two choices of decks to relax on but the main deck was our favorite with the comfortable furniture. Everything was just like "home" on the inside and the one question I had was promptly answered by the owners. You will not regret your visit to the Creek House. We will definitely be back!!

Beautiful, clean & well kept cabin with views! Husband and I stayed a week here with our 2 younger children and brought the grandparents. There was plenty of room for everyone. Grandparents had the lower level and enjoyed the large bathroom and king bed rooms, Wet bar with coffee station, and their own balcony. We stayed on the main floor in the master suite with large multi-head shower and reading nook, while our children enjoyed having the top floor to themselves with their twin beds room, bathroom & cozy game room. We all enjoyed the soft beds with plush bedding. The adjustable bed in the master was a pleasant surprise as well! Coming from Florida, we were excited to get snow flurries our second night here which we had a beautiful view of from all of the large windows and skylights while sitting by the fireplace in the living room. We bought some smaller split firewood near town and enjoyed quite a few bonfires by the creek. The owners are super responsive and you feel welcomed in their home with all of the small details from the beautiful art throughout the home, to the welcome basket with personalized cups and goodies. We had an amazing vacation!

Amazing Property

Hard to describe how well done this property is or how lovely and relaxing the property is situated. From start to finish the property was not just as advertised it was better. The best appointed kitchen and house I have ever rented and it’s not even close. The deck is positioned perfectly to sit outside and enjoy the sound of the creek and the utter silence beyond that for the entirety of your stay. My son slept on the sofa on the deck to the sound of the creek 6 nights in a row!!Much to do in the immediate area including a waterfall hike, beautiful carters lake and all that Ellijay and broader areas like blue ridge and McCaysville further north offer.Beds were super comfortable, bath rooms fantastic and outdoor furniture was wonderful including a dining table big enough for 8. Not to be overlooked was dining table inside that can do 10-12. Great house for a two family stay or large family gathering. Highly recommend the property and hard to overstate the attention to detail that was brought to bear on this property. You cannot hide passion: case in point the integrated lighting that kicks in at night creek side and envelopes all the decks as well as the fire pit and the hammock area the owner built near the creek. Look forward to staying again!
