AMAZING. THANK YOU.

Absolutely AMAZING. Our best stay in Sri Lanka. The owners were the loveliest couple I’ve ever met, they gave us tea and cookies when we arrived and made us the most delicious Sri Lankan breakfast during our stay. They were so kind and thoughtful. Be aware that the location on maps isn’t actually where the hostel is - walk up police station road, turn right just after the left turn to the railway and carry on at this right turn until you eventually get to silver dome. It’s about 10 mins from the centre of Ella and is right in the middle of the jungle which is beautiful. It’s silent and peaceful. I can’t rate our stay highly enough.

You'll have to step onto a narrow path that sometimes goes up, sometimes goes down, takes a turn or two to the left, to the right, to finally emerge in front of "Silver Dome Guest House". Mind the map to arrive there for taking a wrong turn is easily done, especially during night time. The building is deeply hidden into Ella which happened to be, as another foreigner had once put it to me, only "a street of bars, restaurants and services for Westerners mostly". The guest house is typically the place where those Westerners get stocked on the mountainside with the purpose of filling all these businesses the rest of the time. And in this guest house, pleasantly kept by two kind owners, apparently father and son, will stock you the appropriate way. The place is quiet, clean, charming, a bit dated - ok, it's not a four stars hotel but you can get over it, right? The common terrace that makes available incongruous items such as an iron, a hammock together with a small library will probably achieve the unintentional goal of making this place kind of unique.

Buen servicio pero muy húmedo

Fuimos en época de mucha lluvia por lo que la habitación era muy húmeda, todo parecía mojado. Pero el dueño es increíble, muy buena onda, nos cambió de habitación cuando pedimos e incluso nos devolvió lo pagado por una noche en que finalmente no nos quedamos.

Room was Dirty!

First to note, the place is not accurate on google maps. We had to go through twice and numerous phone call to finally find the place. The house on a hilly place with very narrow road all the way to the very end, it was the last homestay in the area. So be prepared to walk up a bit, perhaps like 10mins to the main town. Check in, the old man was a really nice guy giving us all the tips and all about the place. Room, room waa quite horrible, bedsheets and pillow cases were wet, there was even hair under the bedmatress. The pillows were disgusting, wet and stinky and with full stains, we had to do something about it. The room is carpeted, dirty and stingky soon as u open the door. Toilet was dirty, didnt even look it was cleaned before us, there were trashes on the bin that was not even thrown. The toilet is dirty, there are some kind of dirt or looked to me like some cockroach or some insects larvae or some worms whatever those things are. Yes it is a cheap priced room but never had experienced like this, i paid another cheap room in other places but not like this. I didn’t sleep at all. This is just the room nothing to do with the kindness of the gentleman.

An amazing and wonderful, very wellcoming place!

A wonderful and very wellcoming place to stay. The owner treats his guests like his own family members, me and my mom - we felt taken care of, we felt safe and protected, we got lots and lots of good and helpful information and had a WONDERFUL, wonderful experience with the owner and his wife, who's home-baked cake I will always remember with saliva in my mouth. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

Ubytovanie je ďalej od centra mesta Ella. Je k nemu dlhšia cesta do kopca, no zase sa vyspíte v tichej lokalite kde počuť prírodu.

En natt räcker

Trevliga ägare, men rummen var inte det renaste. Spindelnät i taket och duschen/toan behövdes göras ren. Mattorna skulle behövas tvättas. Sängkläderna och handdukarna luktade bensin/kemikalier. Vi sov där en natt. Området var tyst förutom nattens djur som lät. Inga fönster som gick att stänga, det var nät för fönstren. När man duschade så blev allt inne på toan blött,toastol och hela golvet. Jag saknade en golvskrapa att få undan vattnet med. Ca 10 minuters promenad, stor del i mörker till centrum och restauranger. Tur vi hade ficklampa med oss. Kommer inte att välja detta boende om vi återkommer. Vi är inte så kräsna i vanliga fall på boende...

OK stay for a day!

This residence is close to the train station. You can walk it easily within 7 minutes. It's owned by a friendly couple. Has a washroom attached. Wifi was kind of slow.
