About this property
27 Riverfront Acres of Serene Mountain Views - Dog and Kid paradise!
Vacation at this secluded property offered by All Get Out Vacation Rentals!
Enjoy your own private beach with no other houses in sight. Open meadows, trees, river and stream -- this secluded yet accessible cabin has it all. Warm and welcoming three bedroom, 2 full baths, sun porch, open kitchen with modern appliances, gas grill, outdoor fire-pit, and fine furnishings throughout.
Listen to the sound of the babbling brook within 50 feet of the house while lounging in the sunroom or relaxing on the deck. In addition, the property has 27 acres of private beach access to the Shavers fork river. The house is engulfed in a narrow band of trees and surrounded by meadows and glades for walks (bring long pants and socks to explore). It is also situated just 1/4 mile upstream from the one-million acre Monongahela National Forest.
The house features natural wood-plank paneling and a well-appointed kitchen, Wi-Fi, television with satellite TV and DVD player, and a stereo/home theater system. The kitchen is open to the dining area, perfect for social cooking. The sunroom has seating for dining or board games with a full view of the stream so you can enjoy the outdoors even in inclement weather.
This cozy ground-level home sleeps 8 in beds. There is a MBR w/ Queen; BR #2 w/ Queen, BR #3 w/ two sets of Twin bunks, and Livingroom w/ Queen pull-out sofa.
For fall or early spring visits, the house features electric heat and a wood-stove (a modest amount of firewood is included in the rental fee). There is a window unit A/C in each of the three bedrooms and the living room, and ceiling fans in each of the queen bedrooms and the living room.
In winter months, be prepared for snowy and/or icy road conditions by driving a 4WD or suitable vehicle. It's advisable whenever driving in wintry conditions in the mountains of WV to be prepared with chains as the roads are often hazardous. At times the snow can be deep and it takes 24-48 hours before it is plowed, therefore you should be flexible about travel.
The cabin is remote, so even in clear weather its narrow mountain gravel road can be concerning to those not experienced. Depending on whether the road crew has done repairs recently, there may be potholes. In most cases you can drive around them, but there may be a few on the way that you’ll just need to slowly drive through. There are also no guardrails on the road, but it has several turnouts to allow cars to pass. The gravel is not suitable for street motorcycles, we've been told.
Please be aware of the close proximity of the stream to decide if the risk is too great for your toddlers or other children who might leave the house unsupervised. Our other Vrbo listing #317752 has a larger land buffer between the house and the moving water.
The river is about a 5 minute walk across the property from the house. There is absolutely no vehicular traffic allowed off the driveway.
Pet friendly, but only if arrangements are made and the pet fee is paid. Dogs only please, and no more than two dogs per reservation.
Owners provide a starter quantity of paper products, bathroom soap, and laundry/dish detergent. Personal toiletries are to be provided by Guests.
If you are looking for a remote mountain getaway and are willing to roll with what comes from a country vacation, you will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful spot!
Because the house is surrounded by forests, the creek, and the river, there is plenty of nature to enjoy but also to endure. Mice will occasionally come inside, and although we set hidden traps to keep them from settling in, there is a possibility that you will see them during your stay depending on whether they've found a food source recently (it could be from a prior guest -- not your own doing.) We do, however, check to make sure that the kitchen implements are sanitary at the beginning of your stay.
The bug situation is that we are at a high enough elevation to not have a mosquito problem, but there will be gnats in the field, and moths at night wanting to get into the house. There will also be plenty of dead bugs that wedge themselves between the screens and the windows.
If these aspects of nature are acceptable to you, then you will find a beautiful place of nature in which to relax and enjoy your vacation!

3rd year staying in this cabin. Has all the amenities we need and host is very responsive to any questions we have. Peaceful location and short drive to go snow tubing or sledding. Relaxing getaway!
If you are looking for a quiet getaway this property is perfect. If you want to go to town frequently this is not for you. We stayed for 4 nights and just enjoyed the nature.
My husband and I stayed with our two dogs. We enjoyed walking the property and even the water out back. The drive to the cabin was very curvy and we were pretty far off from town. We even saw 2 baby black bear cubs! The cabin came equipped with everything we needed.
Unplugging from regular life for a week was great, nephew (age 7) went through withdrawl from the internet though. So many places to go hiking we were busy all the time. Going to town for groceries wasn't bad! The river was a bit cool for swimming, but was a grand adventure regardless. Definitely recommend!
If you like peace and quiet, this is a slice of heaven. We wandered around the property enjoying the beauty of this setting with the abundance of nature and the river steps away. The inside and outside are immaculately maintained. I’m telling all my friends to go there!
Great property. Secluded and fun location. Great for long weekend. We lucked out and had a snowy weekend. Owners super responsive and helpful. Hard to find so follow the directions they give you! And you’ll be good. We’d love to come back in the summer. Thanks for the stay!!
This was a great place to relax and soak up nature's beauty. There was plenty of room for my family of 6 plus our fur babies. Our favorite part was the river. We spent several hours there exploring and letting the dogs swim. It was so peaceful just listening to the water. The host was excellent with communication.
With the deepest appreciation Larisa for sharing your property with us. Very comfy and cozy with plenty of space to roam freely, everything we needed for our stay. The beautiful mountain scenery with access to the river was awesome, serene and peaceful don't come close to describing our experience. Will definitely return!
The house was so nice and cozy and clean with easy-to-follow instructions on check in and out. It was supplied with plates, pots, pans, utensils, etc. So cooking is a ready option as there weren't many common options to eat (for us, at least) If you like the quiet and seclusion then I would recommend giving this place a try!
If you want peace and quiet and a beautiful setting you need to book this place. Dog friendly. 27 acres. Creek to swim in. Hot tub. Plenty of room in the house. Everything you need for a relaxing time away. Thanks folks. Place was absolutely amazing. We all really enjoyed our time.
A beautiful, serene location. Had a campfire every night while listening to the creek run over the rocks. Finished each evening with someone in the hot tub. Our granddaughter love sleeping in the sunroom and even woke up one morning watching a ground hop. We saw deer every night, caught some fish at the river and loved every minute of it.
House & property described to a tee! Our son is a student athlete at D&E and was unable to leave for spring break so we went to him. It was exactly what we expected. WV experienced all four seasons in one week. It made our stay even better. We walked the river on the warm days, admired the sleet, hail and snow on the others. Enjoyed the hot tub & the heated bathroom floors. Will come back for some kayaking in the summer. Loved it! Ohhhh and the beds are comfy! Thank you!
Really great time. Our goal was to do nothing in the middle of nowhere and we did just that. The location is secluded and remote. Cell service is sketchy. Tv did not have streaming ability or the ability to mirror from your phone so if you want to watch movies being dvd’s. I wanted to read anyway. The hot tub was great. Perfect actually. Stargazing was exceptional. Couldn’t have been more quiet. If you’re looking for a secluded getaway in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, this is the place for you.
While the weather was rainy and sleety, we were able to enjoy walking the property and even ventured up the closest trail whoch is at a firegate entrance very close. Nice weekend with the girls and our pups. Road to the house was better than expected. Enjoyed making a fire inside and appreciate having a full tank of gas on the grill outside waiting for us. Our pups still enjoyed getting in the stream water even in the wintry mix of rain and sleet. Great time and looking forward to coming back in warmer months to enjoy the swimming in the stream and river. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay in this cozy cabin. It was well supplied with all the basics and more in the kitchen. The hot tub was nice under the stars and the fire pit was in a great spot. We walked over to the river and saw lots of deer and small wildlife. The bathrooms were unexpectedly nice for a cabin and even had heated floors. We enjoyed unplugging and playing some games as a family and spending a lot of time outdoors. Our host was really responsive when I had a question about the hot tub and sent someone over to check on it. The grill was clean with full propane and there was plenty of firewood. We went horseback riding one day in Davis and checked out Blackwater falls one day, as well as Seneca Rocks. I recommend this property for a family.
I didn’t realize booking this stay in January that most places in town were closed the days we would be there, but that didn’t matter at all because we never wanted to leave the house! Upon arrival the outside is perfect. Such a huge lawn and so well kept. Then inside it’s super clean, very inviting and relaxing in every room. Our dogs and kids had such a blast discovering the stream and river, or just playing ball and watching stars in the big flat lawn, or swinging on the porch swing or enjoying the hot tub. Without WiFi nobody would have had any cell service in the area, I enjoyed unplugging and enjoying nateure for a few days. The host always an absolute treasure to deal with from the very beginning. I would absolutely tell someone to stay at this cabin and I honestly don’t think I’ll find another place that will top this one. Thanks so sharing your slice of almost heaven with us!
We had a magical time at this beautiful property. We have vacationed in this area for over 10 years and rented a number of different places and this was definitely one of my favorites. The listing touts how perfect it is for families with kids and dogs, and I am sure it is. But it is also perfect for anyone who just loves the natural beauty of this part of WV and wants to experience it with peace and privacy. I spent the week roaming all over the property discovering the abundance of wildlife and beauty. Special highlights were morning coffee in the front yard (the wi-fi works close to the front porch) watching the deer in the foggy meadow. Including two spotted fawns, and a young buck who liked to snort and stamp his hooves at us! Also going outside at dusk to watch the meadows fill up with hundreds of fireflies. And sitting by the Shavers Fork for hours, reading and quietly observing nature all around us. Seeing wild turkeys (13!) was a special treat. It is a birders paradise.
The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable, water pressure was good, well water tasted great, kitchen is well provisioned, and it was simply magical having that many acres of field, forest and riverbank all to ourselves. We already can't wait to come back! Thank you!
My husband and I stayed at this beautiful spot along with our two dogs (one lab and one golden retriever). Everything about this place was perfect for us. The cabin was rustic, clean and charming. The bed in the master bedroom was oh so comfortable, and both bathrooms were clean and the shower off the master was fabulous. The kitchen had what we needed to cook and of course to have coffee every morning. The grill was clean and we used it several times. The property is the wow factor. Our dogs were like children frolicing in the fields and swimming in the river. (On our last day we just put our chairs in the river and relaxed.). We also cannot say enough about the wonderful people that we met from West Virginia. We ended up getting a flat tire along Shavers Fork Road because we moved over for another car and ran over a sharp piece of culvert pipe, (and you are correct that we didn't listed to the owner's instructions to let the other car pull over first to let us by). Anyway the couple in the other vehicle did everything they could to help us and get us on our way, and workers at the tire shop in Elkins were kind and very efficient and told us to just stop by and say hello the next time we are in the area. We also met the neighbors by the cabin and they were so nice, friendly and informative about the area. All in all it was a wonderful stay and yes we will be back again someday.
The property was perfect to relax and unwind. Clean, private, and in a beautiful location. The kitchen was great to cook in, the bathrooms were beautiful, and the owner is an excellent artist! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to escape to the WV mountains.
Stay was great, House was very clean, some brightening/additional lighting on the inside would be welcome but for a cabin on the edge of woods, in the mountains it was just what we were looking for.The property was amazing and Shaver’s Fork offered endless breathtaking views!Close enough to some local amenities and all the hiking hot spots (Blackwater falls, Seneca Rocks etc) but far enough out to feel secluded from the hustle of everyday life.Would absolutely stay again
