SUMMER 2026: Booking 7 Night Stays (Friday to Friday) in the Summer

PORCH IN THE PINES: Escape to Porch in the Pines, nestled amongst the tall pines of Northern Wisconsin and bordering secluded Meta Lake. This stunning three-bed and two-bathroom lake home is more than just a vacation rental; it's a place to reconnect with loved ones and friends while sharing meals, watching a movie, or telling stories around the campfire. There is parking for four (4) vehicles in the circle drive.

HIGHLIGHTS: Outside, near the dock, there are kayaks, canoes, an oar boat, and a floating swimming dock. Enjoy smores and storytelling at night at the firepit - cozy firepit blankets and s'more sticks are provided! The garage is open in the summer and holds water noodles, rafts, and sand toys, with extra room for whatever you bring. There are many board games for family game night. A fully equipped kitchen, linens, and an outdoor grill are provided. There is a ramp from the driveway to the entry door, and the main floor has a large bath with an extra wide doorway. The covered porch wraps around the deck overlooking the water. The home has AC, a Smart TV, and a wood-burning fireplace.

PETS: This home is dog-friendly, so enjoy your vacation with your furry friend! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs for $20/day (a max of $120 per stay). Just select the pet option when booking your stay.

LAKE: Meta Lake is a 175-acre full-recreation lake known for great fishing, including panfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, and walleye. The property is flat, and you can easily get from the parking area to the lake and dock without stairs. This home is near boat launches on the 28 Chain of Lakes; however, there are no public boat launches on Meta Lake.

TRAILS: This home is adjacent to 500 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. ATV/UTV riders can cover a variety of terrain in the area, from paved roads to dirt routes. Enjoy hiking in the nearby Nicolet National Forest. Check out the "Map It Vilas County Trails App" to navigate all the trail systems for any sport - snowmobiling, ATVing, cross-country skiing, biking, and hiking.

THE AREA: Porch in the Pines is located on Meta Lake between downtown Eagle River and Three Lakes. Officially recognized as the Snowmobile Capital of the World, Eagle River is a haven for winter sports enthusiasts with a massive network of off-road trails to explore and recreation facilities galore. In the heart of Wisconsin's 28 Chain of Lakes region, endless ways exist to enjoy time out on the water. Packed with small-town charm, downtown Eagle River offers many shops and restaurants to explore close to home.

Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable payment of $300 is required when booking. This $300 payment is applied toward the total amount due. It is only refundable within 72 hours of the time the booking is made. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required at the time of booking. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date forfeit the entire reservation amount, while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking. For reservations at least thirty (30) nights, the cancellation policy above increases to sixty (60) days before the arrival date. We do offer travel insurance. [PLEASE NOTE:] Airbnb, VRBO, and other 3rd party online travel agencies ("OTA's") have cancellation policies that may be different AND supersede our policy. If you are not booking directly with us, please familiarize yourself with the policy of the website you are booking on.

Good fishing and the water was so clean! Our dog loved going for swims during the day and there are lots of beautiful hiking trails just a short drive away. The beds super comfy, we slept like rocks. I can`t say enough about this place from the ease of booking to enjoying a relaxing 4 nights away from the city. We can`t wait to go back as this is our new favorite spot!

One of our nicest rental experiences

We have rented a number of cottages in the Three Lakes/Eagle River area over the years and this was far and away the best experience. The property was well-maintained, well equipped and beautifully located. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It is a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for in this case.

Great Northern Wisconsin Experience

Great location on a small private lake in northern Wisconsin. They provided all the water toys a family could use while enjoying the lake. Our dog had a blast playing in the water. The only thing that was missing was AC to keep you cool on the hotter days.

This quality cottage has a beautiful view of the lake. The sandy bottom lake is just 80 gently sloped strides away, which was important to me since I use a rollator walker. Although the ramped entrance to the porch was steep, and had thick ridges every foot (which were difficult to roll over) it was still better than steps. I'm only giving 4 stars since the lake was too active, and crowded with huge inflatable slides, etc for my taste. There was constant waterskiing, speed boats, and jet skis which caused strong wakes. There is a Girl's Camp just 3 doors down, which was very noisy with megaphones and chanting. I did appreciate seeing deer crossing in front of the cottage. I also saw a Bald Eagle swoop low over the dock, with prey in its mouth, breathtakingly close. The nearby roads were mostly black-topped, and there was open, easy parking.

Long weekend getaway!

The property is beautiful and very well managed. Very clean and organized. There were several movies and books for the little ones if you have kids. Rooms are spacious and having a washer and dryer on site is always a plus. The only recommendation is in the future update the tv in the bedroom and make sure there’s firewood.

We Are Already Booked to go Back Again!

Our extended family rented this home for the first time this summer and we honestly had the best vacation we’ve had in such a long time. I always say if the kids are happy the parents are happy! Our kids lived on the water: boating, fishing, playing in the sand and out at the firepit at night. They went to bed tired each night and it was so amazing to see them off of their screens and living outdoors. We did go to town a few times and found some great family friendly restaurants, our favorite was Lumpy’s with their arcade games and great bar drinks. A Northwood’s vacation was just what we needed. We have already booked for next summer and can’t wait to get back to Meta Lake.

Cabin was perfect for our 3 night getaway. Quiet and peaceful setting. Very clean and had everything we needed. Kitchen is well stocked with anything that you might need. We enjoyed sitting on the porch looking at the view of the lake. Enjoyed using the boat, canoe and other water toys. Definitely recommend and hope to come back again. The cabin was EXTREMELY clean when we arrived. Excellent communication with the property manager as well. There was even a bottle of wine for us when we arrived :) The kitchen was stocked full of everything we needed to cook so we could enjoy our meals with a view. I highly recommend setting your alarm early to catch the sunrise over the lake, it`s absolutely breathtaking!

My husband and I stayed at Porch in the Pines during the pandemic. I was able to work from the home each day. There is a quiet nook with a desk up in the loft which was perfect for me to get work done. My husband spent his early mornings out on the lake fishing. He caught some northern and musky. The house has an older but sturdy aluminum boat, we brought our own motor and that seemed to work out well for us. Easy to launch on the dock. Some afternoons I went out to the dock bench to enjoy the quiet. We’d love to come back in winter.

Our family has stayed at Porch in the Pines for many summers. It’s an incredible place that has created so many family memories as our kids have grown up. The house is clean and has everything you could want for a great vacation (moveis, books, games, nice beds/linens). The kitchen is fully stocked with all of the pot, pans, dishes you need. Plus, extras like a pancake griddle, blender and toaster. We use the outdoor grill a bunch too. The beach area is our favorite, we’re outside all day. The owners provide life jackets of all sizes, water and sand toys for the kids. We love the kayaks and stand up paddle boards. Great sand beach so easy for the little ones to play. At night we find ourselves out by the big firepit. We can’t wait to be back for our next summer vacation.

Beauty in the Northwoods

Took a short trip with my mom and her pup to this wonderful location. The wildlife viewing opportunity in early summer is amazing from the dock. Every morining we woke up to the birds singing and fresh air.

Porch in the Pines was perfect!

Jackpot!

Perfect location, perfect setting, great fishing, the house has an awesome layout, super clean and nice w WiFi and a smart tv. And, less than 10 minutes to Eagle River which has everything you would need… actually, we ate out a couple times and had awesome food and service. People are so nice and helpful in town! We were sad to leave, and so grateful for so many great memories I’ll always cherish from this last week!!

A very quiet and cozy place

Everything is perfect, the space is clean inside the house and the lake is very private and accessible only if you bring your pet. Make sure they give you the correct price between an App and the property manager and you don't have to pay extra if the info says pets. friendly and also make sure that they are given access to the aquatic equipment or informed how to have access but it would be good to bring your own if you have it just in case

Thanksgiving Getaway

We had a very comfortable stay with 4 adults and 3 kids over Thanksgiving. Thanks to the fully stocked kitchen we were even able to prepare a full Thanksgiving feast! Though we didn't get to do any swimming, the kids still enjoyed the yard and trying to break the ice with sticks (they were not successful!). We saw deer wander through and appreciated the woodsy setting with proximity to both Three Lakes and Eagle River. This was a very enjoyable and cozy place to stay even during the cold "off-season."

Everything you need!

This property has a very well stocked kitchen, plenty of place settings, cookware in excellent condition. Loved the dock and large variety of water craft. Large supply of bath towels. Overall very pleased with our stay!!
