We really enjoyed this hotel. Many thanks to all the staff and the landlord. It was a busy Saturday night and still nothing was too much problems for them great room great food 5 star service.
We had a fantastic stay at the hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the room was very clean. We had both breakfast and dinner, they were REALLY good. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Durham—we will definitely be staying here again our next time in town.

Nice and friendly pub located was fantastic, breakfast really good would go back.
Had a great stay, staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel is a bit noisy due to the main road. Rooms are basic but clean and staff sorted us out with alternative rooms when ours weren't available. Breakfast was really good!!
Everyone on staff was so friendly and helpful! The property is well kept and very convenient to the centre of town. Don’t miss quiz night in the pub for a real local experience.
Breakfast was included in the price. Several choices for breakfast.
Staff very extremely helpful and friendly.
Very convenient location to visit the city center of Durham. Close to train station in walking distance as well as main bus station.
Highly recommended.

Great hotel, but floor and seats need a cleaning
Wonderful hosts, clean beds, great breakfast, but the carpet flooring in the room, the bathroom floor and the seats in the bar were really gross.

The hotel was in a very good location with a nice friendly bar and staff.
Room was very basic and quite noisy with the air conditioning system or heating outside the window.Expensive parking nearby and the breakfast was very disappointing,no jam or butter left out for the toast and sausages were under cooked.
Booked onto a boat trip and always stay overnight , 2nd visit to bridge hotel and always good . Not the Hilton but it’s clean and has amazing staff ! And I can’t get over the size of the lampshade ha ha HUUGGGEEE

Good location if you come by train
Location is right outside the road to the station and close to the town center. The Barman / receptionist was friendly. Bar had good beer and was quite crowded for a Wednesday night. Room was basic but did the job. A bit old and not in the best condition. I took the 8am train, which is before breakfast was served :(

Comfortable bed, lovely large window, room size ok. Shower a bit mouldy but otherwise cleanliness good. Towels a bit small. Breakfast booked for specific time but not ready on time, with grumpy service from kitchen. Front of house staff were very friendly and helpful.

All good apart from one thing
Nice little pub and very friendly staff, good choice of breakfasts and biggest sausage and egg buns in the world.
Only one little thing let it down and there was a musty smell in our room. Room 5. The rest of the it was all spot on for the price.

Staff is friendly and helpful. Their food is excellent. We had breakfast lunch and dinner in their pub. It is a bit noisy since the rooms are above the pub. But it is quiet after 10pm. The worst part is the shower. It is so small that a person can barely fit in it. There is no space to put the shower gel and shampoo. And there is black mold along the connection between the shower wall and shower basin.
A very friendly and welcoming place. A great location at the bottom of the hill from the train station. Ideal for catching the free shuttle bus to the university open day. The room was clean, comfortable and functional. It would have been nice to have been provided with shower gel as well as shampoo and conditioner. We had room 8, a twin room at the back of the property, that was quiet and had a view of the cathedral and viaduct arches. You pre-order breakfast the night before stating what time you would like it. Note breakfast is served from 8.30am on the weekend. A great place to stay for a quick visit.
This is a good place if you want to try the British Pub as Inn experience. But the internet only worked downstairs in the pub, our room was small and had a nice view of the cathedral but you had to look past the neighbors garbage cans to see it. At night, the door out through the pub is locked and you have to come and go through the back door, down the fire escape and through the trash cans. No making the bed or fresh towels either. A friend's room on the front of the hotel was much nicer. Breakfast was good. If there was bed making, a larger room, and internet, I'd probably give it 4 stars.

Mixed bag
This trip was a mixed bag. The room was tired and worn and could do with a refurb. We had twin beds, the mattresses have seen better days and were directly over the bar at the front of the building right on the main road underneath the train station viaduct. It was VERY noisy from very early morning until late at night but rooms at the side or back could well be quieter. Tuesday night is quiz night so eat early because it gets busy. Very close to the city centre and easy to walk there and back. Durham is hilly and the pub is halfway between the station at the top and the city centre and river at the bottom. The room was clean but basic and the WiFi patchy and slow. Only one of the three windows opens. Staff were fantastic - helpful, friendly and keen to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Food was delicious and plentiful. We had homemade lasagne - one meat and one vegetarian which were super tasty and excellent vfm. No kitchen service on a Wednesday evening though which we didn’t know in advance.
