Great coffee available in the morning. Walkable to many restaurants, shops, and the historical train station. Live music every night at 2 of the hotel restaurants.
enjoyed everything about this beautiful historic hotel. It feels like the property has become even more beautifully maintained than in past visits.
Always love the Office bar.
The staff was awesome specifically Lala! Devin Scott was the entertainment at "The Office" and do yourself a favor and catch him when he is there. This place was top notch and we will be back!
Hotel was a awesome place to stay!
Liked that it was decorated in the Victorian area!
Loved your room was clean!
Exploded the hotel.
Will stay here again when passing thru!
Nice hotel conveniently situated with lots of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance, the room was nice but the mattress had seen better days, had to put a pillow at my side so that I didn’t fall out the bed.
The bathroom was small and toilet was a bit cramped against the wall, but I appreciate that it’s an old building.
100% would recommend staying here. It’s a slice of life in the late 1800’s. The room was clean and welcoming with authentic period furniture. We had drinks and appetizers at The Office Spiritorium which were amazing. There were preserved items from the hotel’s history in display cases, which were really interesting context for the hotel history. We also went over to the Diamond Belle Saloon for dinner and had such a great time listening to the piano music and experiencing an old west saloon. The food was great. All of the staff - the front desk and both restaurants we went to were very friendly and welcoming. Great place!
This is an elegant hotel in the period style with all the amenities that you would want for a couple's weekend or stay in Durango. It is good for families, but the majority of guests appeared to be couples and took advantage of the 3 restaurants/bars in the building, as well as easy walking distance to all places downtown. Very comfortable rooms, a beautifully decorated hotel, amazing staff, and well-maintained. Reserved parking next to the hotel for easy access and traveling.
Very cute historical room! The night staff and manager were awesome and accommodating! Very quiet until about 7 when the train blows its horn but not the hotels fault! I love Durango and had a fantastic stay!!!
We had a great weekend in Durango, and staying at the Strater was big part of that. Front desk were all super friendly and let us check in early, enabling us to change before kayak trip. The room was perfect and room service much appreciated. Both the Office and Daimond Belle are great to stop in for a cocktail, depending on the vibe you are looking for. Being on main street with reserved parking was also great!
Fantastic historic hotel with free larking helpful staff a great affordable restaurant with a piano player. Beautiful rooms and furniture all well kept. Loved it
A must stay.. if in town on vacation. We just love history and this didn’t disappoint us. Everyone was kind and ready to share a story. A real gem! Won’t every penny.
Beautiful historic hotel central to downtown Durango. Easy walking to all the shops and restaurants in the area, as well as the Durango Train. You’ll feel like you stepped back into the 19th century. Definitely worth the visit if you are looking for an authentic old west experience. The bathroom could stand an update, but it was kept very clean and met our expectations for an older historic hotel.
Charming historic hotel in the heart of downtown. Location could not have been better. Room and bed very comfortable. You can reserve the jacuzzi for 30 minutes in a private room (the only real amenity at the property), which was terrific. Highly recommend.
