Excellent property with awesome views of the river and short distance from lots to do in Durango. House was exactly as described. The location is very private and quiet.
Best of both worlds - a cabin in the woods and close to all of Durango. I fished in the morning, golfed the next! Really had a great time. Cabin was super and we’d come back!

Great property, kinda yucky house. Bedding was full of hair and had actual piles of acorns under the comforter (!!), couch was filthy, dishes were dirty, patio a mess. Management was quick to respond to our complaints at least and did refund our cleaning deposit. It’s too bad that the profit that must be made doesn’t get put into upgrading/up keeping the home. The location and grounds are so lovely.
Hearing the Animas River from our deck was so peaceful. We ate all our dinners from the second floor deck looking out on the property and the river . We really enjoyed our stay, hopefully returning here again someday.
We were very happy staying at this rental. We asked to stay an extra day because the location was great for fall fishing, and the management was very responsive and accommodating. We enjoyed 'smores on the firepit and made use of one of the two grills. Nice to have laundry available as well. The kitchen is kind of small, but it met our needs nicely. We will be back if at all possible.

Reviewer Comments:
We loved our stay at the Animas River Cabin. It was very quiet and yet close to Durango downtown. We also enjoyed the fire pit next to the river. The manager was very helpful during our check-in. I would rent this cabin again next time back.
We stayed here for several days while our house was under construction. The house is wonderfully located in a secluded spot right on the river but is also close to town as well as great retail options. The host is terrifically accommodating, and the house is very clean and well furnished, in a cute and casual style. The outdoor space is beautiful with a view of the river. Visitors should be aware there is a set of stairs between the master bedroom/main living area and the kitchen/dining area.
Property location very private, right on the Animas River. Property management was extremely responsive to our every need. Living room is downstairs and kitchen is upstairs. We would have liked to have a king bed upstairs in the large bedroom, but there were twin beds.
This rental is close to businesses and restaurants, but it feels like it is much further out in the countryside. I enjoyed walking down to the river each morning. Internet was fast for streaming with no lag. I knew this when I booked it, but the kitchen is on the second floor. If my knees stay good, I plan on staying at this rental again.
The cabin was in the perfect location. We could watch the rafters on the river. Everything was clean. It was close enough to the sites we wanted to see but isolated enough we could relax.
The best thing about this place is the location. It’s on the river and close to town. But everything else was pretty uncomfortable. No central AC/heat and only one window would open downstairs and two upstairs. The comforter was dirty when we arrived (this was handled by management) and the coffee maker and the couch were both broken. Overall very disappointing rental for us.
Fan unit smelled like it was on fire. Some furniture should be replaced due to wobbly legs. Down stairs shower was either freezing cold or burning hot while showering.

"Cabin" is the operative word
Agreeably, this location is unique because the river is close enough that it can be heard from the deck and patio of the house but the path to it is overgrown, kind of non-friendly access. We were given instructions that upon leaving after our stay to lock the gate near the county road that the cabin is off of but that lock is non-existent. After the other cabin was vacated we would have appreciated being able to bar access from the road late at night. Another safety issue is that several of the windows were inoperable due to the mechanisms being broken. Two wouldn't close and a couple wouldn't open. Screens on the doors and all windows would be nice as well as we wanted fresh air but not the moths. Yes, it's a cabin with some of that charm but the floorplan is awkward. More comfortable seating in the one main room would help considerably as there is one couch and the rest are upright chairs...not exactly hang-out-able. Having two bathrooms and the overall privacy is a plus.
