Our spacious room with king bed and kitchen area was a delight for our two night stay. A 10 minute walk to the downtown octagon meant restaurants, galleries and shops were very nearby. We walked to all galleries, museums and sights. One note: if you want to see the blue penguin colony, book a visit in advance of your arrival!

Very close to Dunedin's central Octagon but quiet (I did have a room away from the street). Friendly, helpful management. The room was large, clean and comfortable and in my case had a small outdoor garden. Would definitely stay here again.

Friendly staff that are very helpful. Room was tidy and clean. Starting to show age a wee bit though. Outdoor areas need some TLC with the weeds. Usually stay here in Dunedin as its pretty close to everything and is reasonably quiet from road noise and night life

The room we had probably the best motel /hotel room we have stayed in. Quite some thought has been taken in the design processed and showed. The attention to detail was exemplified in other way. For instance the motel was fully booked with no parking available on Saturday night. However Motel on York were able to provide off-site parking at business across the road. It was also no problem to provide secure luggage storage on our last day. Highly recommend.

Property was clean and tidy. BUT nearly impossible to lock and unlock door (manager had a big problem when he showed us the room). Bathroom heater did not work first night, but did work next night. Extract fan in bathroom kept going all night

The access was uneven. Even though the hairdryer had been repaired it would not go, maybe it was the power points. The hairdryer was replaced We were able to use car park even after checking out

Great for Graduation
Warm room, comfy bed, close to CBD & restaurants, good shower. This motel is close to the CBD and town hall which was what we required for our daughter's graduation. It also happened to be super close to her flat which was also very convenient for us.

Some power points are controlled from a switch in Reception, unfortunately this must not have been activated during your stay, our apologies for this oversight. If we had known it would have just been a matter of turning the switch on! Should you ever have any problems during a stay any where just phone Reception and advise them. Staff are always happy to help if they are made aware.

I wouldn't stay here again
This place seems to be pretty well located near the centre of the city, and has adequate parking. But it's a fairly average stay. Our Superior Studio room was a decent size and pretty well-equipped, but a soft bouncy bed doesn't give me a great night's sleep, the hairdryer wasn't working, and the shower was rather dysfunctional (combination of small cubicle and angle of the fixed shower head). The owner didn't come across as particularly welcoming although his wife when I checked out was very chatty. Be aware the owners have made this a totally non-smoking property -- even on balconies or in the car park! This is far from the norm in New Zealand (the only such property in our month traveling the country). This should be clearly flagged on their website: just say "We don't welcome smokers" or whatever and I'll book somewhere else. Also, there is no elevator and you may be on the third floor -- if that's a problem it is worth being aware of this Needless to say, I wouldn't stay here again.

Dear Howard, many thanks for your review. Sorry you did not find the bed to your liking. The hair dryer did work, the button hadn't been pushed in. Our property has been smoke free for a number of years and is on our web site and New Zealand is aiming to be smoke free by 2025. We offer to carry guests luggage up to their rooms so generally stairs are not a problem. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip!

Close to the center of town, no a/c so we had to sleep with the windows open, which was noisy at times. Facilities in the room were fine, staff very pleasant.

Central Location
Motel is about 14 years old. Room very clean and adequate. The queen bed was quite like a trampoline and could take a bit of getting used to. The shower was very small and the door opened outward allowing water to flood the bathroom. Could find only two Sky channels. The room backed onto a large parking area and was quite noisy at night. Having said that, we will probably stay again. The Motel parking is very handy and the Motel is very close to the city centre.
