No one at the reception, dirty kitchen.
No one at the reception even though they say “reception hours: 8am to 8 pm. I arrived around 6:30pm but the reception window already closed. In the morning, I waited until 9, but nobody came. I tried to call them by the phone next to the reception but no one answered. How unhelpful they are. No parking direction at all either. Kitchen was dirty and there are not enough clean tea towels. Maybe it was the end of the year so they were a bit busy but I didn’t feel welcomed because of these experiences during my stay...

Exactly what I needed after a restless trip to the previous town. Homely, peaceful, nice comfortable people although almost far from everything else to walk. Closest to the Tunnel Beach which was the whole point of my trip but it was pouring in Dunedin. Still a nice time despite staying in. No regrets and would book in again next time.

I liked that casual but organised. Simple kitchen and bed room rules. Happy to have my very well trained, quiet and travelled border collie with me. Very welcoming of us older folk - and less wealthy people mix from all over. Did not like two two large beautiful paua shell Taonga being used as ash trays, out side.

Stay here.
Really lovely backpackers, super homely feel. Everyone is very friendly. A little bit out of town but only 15-20 min walk to the octagon. Would recommend.

I stayed one night at a room for women. I asked a reception to borrow a charger for my phone and she was so friendly to do it for me. I just slept there but felt such a homey atmosphere. Thanks a lot.

I liked how it had codes to enter the building and how there was several houses for residents to stay. Also there was a common room and the bathroom was nice

Excellent stay
It was a lovely stay in a well maintained Hostel. The Owner and other staff were very helpful. It is close fo the Lake, Launderette and shops.

We had a hiccup in that there was noone in reception to check us in and we didn't have time to wait around for half an hour, but a quick email resolved the situation and we were able to check in late at night when we returned. The room was clean and warm and the beds were very comfortable. The only slight inconvenience is that there are no showers on the first floor.

The only one problem which is too small kitchen. Everything else was just perfect especially for the price !

Quiet Area
We only stayed one night. Everything was there that we needed and I was pleasantly surprised by what was available, we a due to stay again in September so we know that next time we can bring our own breakfast supplies and not have to go out for breakfast. Lovely unique old houses and well away from the student population of Dunedin.

On any other day Im sure the room comfort would have been just great, however on our stay Dunedin was experiencing above 30 degrees C weather and the room was extremely hot. You were unable to be in there for most of the day. The only ventilation was a small window. Apart from that I was very pleased with our room and facilities.

Only met one staff at reception, she was very friendly and informative. The place itself only had two bathrooms between everyone staying and they looked like they never get cleaned. There is constant noise from guests taking loudly outside bedrooms and cooking all throuout the night due to no rules for quiet times or kitchen opening times. The place could be really nice if it was cared for.

Great little backpackers. Old world charm. Lounge areas nice, with a good collection of DVDs from reception. Was in 2nd house, which had 2 small kitchens with little room to get around each other but it all worked, and everyone waited to wash up while others in the kitchen. You could always go over to main house in any case if things were getting a bit tight.

A really pleasant host greeting and meeting people made this a great stay. The place is a nice and small hostel with many opportunities to meet people and stay comfortably.

Character Hostel close to CBD
We really enjoyed our 7 night stay at this Hostel. We hired a our own room which had a queen and single bed in. It was very comfortable and clean. Heaters were provided. The Hostel toilet, bathroom and kitchen were cleaned daily. We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The building itself was lovely.

staff extremely friendly , room cozy and linens clean . bathrooms were mostly clean , kitchen was terribly dirty every day , no one cleaned up after themselves . the hostel is a bit of a walk to the Centre of town I'd say 20 ish minutes but we had a car so it was no big deal. I would come stay here again but knowing the place is older and a bit run down .

Thanks for the feedback - we do depend on the guests to clean up after themselves but the kitchens are cleaned in the morning, at night and thoroughly each day by our cleaners. We are a few minutes drive from the centre of town but it's also quiet here with lots of parking!! Glad you liked our beautiful old buildings

全体的に清潔とは言えない。 キッチンは異臭がした。 部屋にロッカーがなく、部屋自体も鍵がなく、誰でも出入りできるのが不安に感じたがスタッフ曰く、ここはとっても安全なホステルで一度も盗難は起きたことがない！だから大丈夫！とのこと。 念のためキャリーケースはワイヤーで繋いでおきました。 貴重品は枕の横に。 コンセントは上のベッドなら苦労するかもしれない。 駐車場にはとめてないが、ホステルの目の前の道にフリーで駐車可能なので不便は全くなかった。
