Lovely stay at the J.D. Cotton. Everything we needed and more. We would have brought slippers had we known that no shoes are allowed in the home.

If you love older classic homes with interesting history and architecture this is ideal. Well cared for, great common space on lower level. Nice touch with afternoon tea in dining room.

The Cotton Mansion is such a beautiful space and I enjoyed my stay in the JD Rockefeller Suite. The room had an extremely comfortable bed, a newly remodeled bathroom and they provided Netflix so that I could watch my favorite shows before bed. I highly recommend this space.

Location was nice and close to amenities, nice neighborhood, felt safe and sufficient parking. Was my first time staying at a mansion, was beautiful and decorated tastefully. Bathroom was updated, coffee provided in room, and TV. Air conditioner was running in the window, but it wasn’t hot out at all. Some negatives, step into building seemed steep and could be a hazard and flowers outside in pots were dead. I am not sure how often mattress pad, comforter, pillows are washed/changed out because the bed smelled like an old man. Room was cold. In all fairness, I did not reach out to management and just dealt with it. I am not sure if we will return ?

Very interesting and unique getaway for us so we could explore Duluth and the North Shore area. It was great to have one of the staff show us the other in-occupied suites in this mansion. It proved to us that the JD ROCKEFELLER suite was not the one to pick for an extended stay. We really liked the Speakeasy Suite in the basement area, nice and cool there as well. We understood that our suite has been targeted for some upgrades. There was a mini-split being installed in several rooms of the mansion. Ours was not functioning yet. There was a small window air conditioner that kept the room cooler if left running all the time. With the window unit running, we could not hear the TV without turning volume up very loud which we thought would disturb the peace and quiet for other patrons, so we shut the air down during our viewing times. The door knob on the inside of the room was a challenge to use to open the door to get out. It was very worn (original) and got worse as our time went on, getting so bad we had to contact housekeeping to come and let us out of our room. At that time, they taped the latch so it would not catch. We only used the deadbolt to open/close the door. We really loved the shower in this unit! The mini-fridge did not have a freezer compartment and the temp seemed a bit warm. There was an armoire which had 4 hangers to hang a few shirts, but you had to share that space with a microwave and coffee pot. The armoire was quite dark, we could not read microwave.
