We arrived very easily, on the bus from the airport. Pero was extremely helpful, giving us excellent directions from the main gate. The tourist office is right where the bus drops you off, so you can pick up a map of the city. Our immaculate rooms were at the top of the building, on the side, so awesome to stay in an apartment with walls two feet thick! There are two Kozomin grocery stores, one within the walls, one just outside that are less than a five minute walk. Bring your own re-usable shopping bag. We bought the Dubrovnik Pass which easily paid for itself as we took trips outside of the Old Town to Gruz, Babin Kuk and Lapad. It is a little noisy staying so close to the main square, but the convenience certainly made up for that, plus when the windows were closed the noise was considerably reduced. We would most definitely stay with Pero again.
