Gorgeous Estate and Location
Karen was very helpful through the entire reservation process and always expedient in her replies. As soon as we arrived at the Mews House, everything was clean and immaculately organized. The Norwegian duvets on the guest beds are amazing! I slept better than I do at home! The area is gorgeous. We often took the train (right down the hill) to visit some of the adorable coastal towns nearby. Dalkey was one of our favorite nearby towns and the nearby Wicklow Mountains are a site to see! You will thoroughly enjoy your stay at the Mews house.

The Gem of Ireland
I never write reviews but this place is amazing! The house is impeccably designed and styled like a page out of Architecture Digest! The area is breathtakingly beautiful which is why your neighbors are Bono, Christoper Nolan, and Matt Damon to name a few. It is truly the Amalfi Coast of Ireland! The property is a short walk to the beach and the dart terminal which can get you anywhere in no time from Dublin or to seside towns like Bray or Howth, You can also walk from the property to the top of Killiney Hill where you have an incredible view that you wont forget! We normally stay in Ritz Carlton and Four Season properties for their incredible customer service yet we were blown away by our hosts Karen and Jonathan who treated us as if we were family during our stay and constantly anticipated things we would need and made suggestions for day trips that made us feel like locals. If you get the chance to book this property I highly suggest it and cant wait to come back to Ireland and book this property again!

The Valclusa Mews House was fabulous! Tasteful modern design of a historic building on a sublime 5 acre estate in beautiful Killiney. Karen & Jonathan could not have been more hospitable & gracious. Spent a month there filled with memories that I will treasure forever.

Wonderful mews apartment just a few steps from the sea and the DART train to Dublin and Dalkey. Hosts Jonathan and Karen are incredible. They went above and beyond! (Caveat: this property is not for you if you have mobility issues.)

Lovely location
My 4 friends and I thoroughly enjoyed this property. The beds were very comfortable. The views lovely. Very close to the train which is about 6 stops from Trinity College in Dublin. Nice little town. Keep in mind though it's a bit hilly. One item we would have like to have known in advance is that the bathroom is on the first floor and bedrooms are on the second floor and the only access is by means of a spiral staircase-a bit difficult carrying luggage. Also be sure to have specific directions sent to you to find the property as it's off the beaten path. Overall a wonderful time and Jonathan and Karen were always very responsive with good advice and information.

Slice of Heaven on Earth
My group of 8 ranging in age from 7-64 had an absolutely wonderful time while at Valclusa! Jonathan and Karen provided thorough and immediate responses to my questions before and during our trip and are just fantastic people. Valclusa is a welcome escape after a day of sight-seeing in bustling Dublin. The grounds of the estate are beautiful and the interior of the house is something out of the House Beautiful magazine. Muted tones of cream, gray and black create a serene environment while the occasional red chair offers a splash of color. Magazines, tourist brochures are ample as are a few items/toys for kids. The kitchen has everything you could want or need including a great selection of cookbooks from local chefs. The 3 bedrooms are spacious and it was a treat to wake up each day with the amazing view of the gorgeous green grounds and the occasional sighting of Hawkeye, the hosts friendly dog. After a restful nights sleep and quick breakfast my family and I would walk to the Killiney train station to take the DART into Dublin or Dalkey. The views of the sea from the train are breathtaking. If you get an opportunity to stay at Valclusa, take it! I hope to go back!

Valclusa = Paradise
My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Valclusa, in a fantastic Mews house on this picturesque estate in Killiney. Karen and Jonathan were gracious and welcoming, helping us plan our day trips and tending to our every need. The house was beautifully styled, well-appointed and the beds divine! We slept so well during our stay. We also enjoyed our morning visits with Hawkeye, their frisky and friendly Labrador! Though feeling like we were worlds away from the city centre, the convenient train was just a 5-10 minute walk down the hill. We highly recommend staying here, away from the bustle of the city and wrapped in the warmth and beauty of natural surroundings, sweet air and exquisite hospitality.

Myself and three friends stayed here for a weekend for a bowling event in Bray. The accommodation was amazing and Jonathan and Karen are such lovely people. I can only describe our time there as amazing. It really is luxury and nothing is too much trouble. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Thanks again

Magical Time In Killiney at Historic Estate - Our Family Loved it - Five Stars
Our family had a wonderful stay at the Mews House in Killiney, Ireland. Karen and Jonathan, the owners, are so wonderfully warm and gracious, and are happy to offer insights and advice for exploring nearby Dublin, Wicklow, or all of Ireland for that matter. They know everything there is to know and have exquisite taste in terms of the property, the must-see sights and restaurant recommendations. They make the experience very easy, which is hard to find when traveling. Their property is stunning. Secluded, with lots of trees and green grass, a long driveway, and very spacious. On the outside, you'll feel like 19th century royalty arriving at your weekend retreat, as you visit this historic property. You will enjoy strolling along the more than an acre of green grass spotting the occasional fox. And you will hear the church bells ring at noon. Our kids threw a football around the yard, and enjoyed swinging on the swings. It is the perfect place to disconnect & relax. You feel your shoulders drop on the drive in. On the inside, it is all brand new, modern and you'll feel like you're starring in a designer magazine. Karen is a designer and she spares no detail-- from the luxurious, comfortable linens, couches, to the works of art, books, decor and accents elegantly placed about. The ceilings are very high, the three bedrooms are big, and plenty of sunlight comes in through the windows which have terrific views of the property. The grey hardwood floors, and the red accent chairs against the clean white walls add another flair of modern elegance. The property is impeccably clean and had plenty of room for this family of four from Los Angeles. The only issue is when you stay at this property, you will not want to leave. You will want to cook dinners and entertain, which we did one night. Killiney is a beautiful location, 20-30 minutes outside of Dublin, a train stop a way from a Dalkey and some terrific shops and restaurants. Hiking up nearby Killiney Hill is a must, with its breathtaking views of the Irish Sea. Book dinner at DeVille's in Dalkey and have breakfast at the Corner Note Cafe. It is a truly special property. (If you're a dog lover, ask the owners to play with their fabulous dog, Hawkeye. He's special.) It is no wonder the neighborhood boasts the likes of Bono, the Edge and many other Irish celebrities, because it is one of the most gorgeous spots on the Emerald Isle. Highest recommendation.

Wonderful Stay in Killiney, Ireland
Our family spend 3 wonderful nights at the Mews House, hosted by Karen and Jon. It is an absolutely beautiful setting and an amazing location. It is a short drive from Dublin and a great hopping off point for all the area attractions. Plus, the train station and beach are a short walk from the house. Karen and Jon could not have been more helpful. They graciously answered all of my questions (although I probably drove them crazy with countless emails). They even made dinner reservations for us in nearby Dalkey. If you want to be near Dublin but feel like you are on your own country estate, this is the place for you.

Amazing property with incredibly kind hosts
We stayed at the Mews house for 6 nights while touring the area. The house has been updated to a very high standard. There are beautiful furnishings, comfortable beds, exquisite linens; everything you need to feel comfortable. Jonathan and Karen were extremely helpful and kind, and made sure to make our 8 year old daughter feel welcome as well. We had privacy, but they were there if we needed anything. Thanks Jonathan and Karen, we hope to see you again.

Spacious property set in verdant grounds
Once you arrive at Valclusa, you know that you have chosen a special place. Set in beautifully maintained estate grounds, it is a terrific accommodation for a big group. We were 8 adults. We had loads of room. Everything is modern and tasteful and the beds are very comfortable. We were within walking distance of the train transport system (DART) which goes into Dublin city. We were also able to swim in the sea at the local beach. One of us went out for a run, and others went for a long walk along the coastline. There is a grocery store, pharmacy, and two take-out restaurants nearby. One thing prospective guests must be aware of is the inconsistency of the taxi service in this area. Even though you order a taxi, it may not come. Pre-booking is no help. Your booking is ignored. Our hosts, Jonathon and Karen were so helpful and kind and went above and beyond to help us out. We are very happy to recommend this property.

Perfect Dublin Retreat!!!
We wrapped up a beautiful tour of the Irish countryside here for a final few days in Dublin. Being outside of the city proper was glorious and the property was meticulous. Getting into Dublin was a breeze and returning to this elegant estate was delightful. A worthy note is that the Dart is is a short, lovely walk away and the nearby town of Dalkey is quintessential Ireland. Our family of six could not have been more comfortable - and don't let the fact that there is only one bathroom deter you. The bath and shower are in separate rooms - both large and brand new. Everything is modern and clean. Huge thanks to Jonathan and Karen, who went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed - in fact they could not have been more perfect hosts! Totally in the know on where to go for whatever one might want, they were always available to point us in the right direction, helping to make our last few days in this beautiful country as perfect as they could have possibly been. Thank you, thank you - and we hope our paths cross again. Jack, Lisa, Nick, Erika, Conor and Ally

Almost perfect
We really liked our stay here. The house is in a great location and the grounds are amazing. Everything was spotless, beds comfy and furniture ideal. The hosts could not have been more welcoming and obliging 10/10- thanks. Two things any potential hirers need to consider are the spiral staircase and toilet. The staircase will be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. Grandma had to live downstairs, fortunately that is where the toilet is. There are two excellent fold-up beds which proved to be comfortable and grandma was happy sleeping in the living area. We knew there was only one toilet, but shared between 8 people, well you can imagine the issues. These two things didn't stop us enjoying this great property and we would be happy to return.

Best place to spend our family vacations in Ireland!!
I completely loved this house with its amazing gardens, view of the church, trees and so much green life. Also de house is lovely decorated with everything you need. Being a little away from Dublin by train or car its perfect for a more tranquility and enjoyable stay and also is so near of Dalkey, a cute town nearby with restaurants, little shops, bakeries, a beach, a park over the ocean... everything is so so cute. We stayed with our three boys that couldn’t be happier wondering around in the secure gardens and riding some bikes or enjoying de zipline from a tree house! The owners are amazing people really friendly and generous, that seems happy to share their treasure with you. Really, I totally recomend staying here if you want a magical time with your beloved ones. We couldn’t have asked for more... thanks a lot Karen and Johnathan for letting us enjoy your place for a little time. We will return as soon as possible. Best family vacation time and in a great porcent thanks to this lovely house we enjoyed as our home. Don’t hesitate to come here!

Wonderful escape convenient to Dublin
We traveled as a family of six adults. The setting of Mews house was unforgettable. The House was cozy and well apppointed for comfort - most importantly the beds and bedding were very high quality. The only negative is the fact that there is only one bathroom and it is on the ground level while a three bedrooms were upstairs. That said, I would not hesitate to recommend Mews house to a friend!

Great home in a great area
Very nice and completely renovated. The property is beautiful and the restaurants are amazing in Dalkey. Karen and Johnathon were helpful giving us a lift to town and recommending great food. Only negative is the winding stairs to the bedrooms (hard on my mom's knees) and only bathroom is downstairs. Not much they can help with that. We had a great time and would come back again!

PPleasant house in a great location in Dublin suburb
This place is near the DART station and also close to the scenic Wicklow countryside. A super location. The owners are very friendly and helpful and will suggest outings to you. They provide bikes for you to use. The grounds are vast and great for kids to run and play. It has 3 bedrooms and really sleeps only 6 people. The kitchen/dining area is adequate but certainly not spacious. There are 2 fridges which is great. There is however only 1 toilet on the premises. The bedrooms are adequately if sparsely furnished. I found the rental a little expensive for the return.
Response from VrboOwner on 24 Mar 2020

Perfect base to explore Dublin and escape back to peace and tranquility
A wonderfully renovated mews house located in a large garden estate. The mews house is very tastefully decorated and really invites you to sit back and relax with a book or glass of wine. The gardens of the walled estate are extensive and very well maintained. The kids loved the 'death slide' which must have been over 75 m long (insight into the size of the gardens!) and played footie. We borrowed the available bikes and explored the area - a big pebble/sand beach a few minutes walk away, also the dart train into both the city and next 'centre' Dalkey, which has a great selection of restaurants, bars and pubs to enjoy many an evening in! The owners Karen and Jonathan were extremely friendly and helpful, giving us some great tips which really helped make the most of our visit. We took the dart train into the city and can definitely recommend this as a stress free way to explore. After the hustle and bustle of the city it was great to be able to retreat back to the peaceful estate and village like character of the surrounding restaurants. This house is definitely not to be missed and I strongly recommend staying here! We will certainly stay here on our next trip to Dublin...

It's a great place to stay, comfortable, spacious house with everything you need.
It's a truly lovely place to stay while you're visiting Dublin or environs, the location is perfect for either going into Dublin or exploring the surrounding countryside. The house itself is 100% up to date but full of old world charms and the hosts are terrific - we really loved it and so did our 8 year old kids who had a heap of room outside to run around and play with dogs and chickens when they weren't playing on swings and a zip line. Terrific place all around.
