Dolphin Discovery is located in the middle of an extensive lagoon in the luxurious holiday resort of Puerto Aventuras. The park offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about these fascinating creatures and also to interact with them. There are a range of programmes available that give you the chance to get into the water with these clever, curious and fun-loving animals.Watch from a platform in the water as the dolphins sing and play during the Dolphin Encounter, or speed through the water holding on for dear life to a fin in the Dolphin Swim Adventure. Alternatively, be pushed along by the friendly dolphins on a boogie board at high speed.The most popular activity at Dolphin Discovery is the Dolphin Royal Swim where participants hang onto the fins of two dolphins! The Dolphin Push, on the other hand, offers the amazing experience of being pushed up from below the feet by dolphins, who then propel you through the water in a standing position.All of these swim programmes are suitable for confident, experienced swimmers. The calmest and most suitable for young visitors is the Dolphin Encounter. Also, it's worth mentioning that these aren't the only sea mammals here in the park, as you can also hit the water with enormous sea lions and manatees – the latter once known as "sea cows" by mariners.Found in Puerto Aventuras on the Riviera Maya, Dolphin Discovery is 25 minutes from Playa del Carmen. The Mayan city of Tulum is 20 minutes away, while it takes one hour to get here from Cancun.There are plenty of buses that run here from Playa del Carmen and Tulum, and the resort also organises specific return trips from Cancun.
