"Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast and a comfortable room. On site parking was welcome as we had no intention to use our car for the duration of the visit. Good location to explore the City, and some very nice local places to eat and drink in the evening. It was nice to have a hotel bar too."

"The breakfast was fantastic, fabulous choice of food and juices; staff were so helpful and attentive. Spa was a welcome treat, after a day of exploring the city; again, staff in spa were so helpful. Room, as rest of hotel, was spotless. The windows were rather old and hard to open ( to air the bathroom, after a shower), but the building is relatively old. The private parking was expensive, but only a short walk from the hotel and we knew the car was safe and secure. All in all, a wonderful stay at The Gainsborough, will definitely return; was a wonderful experience. "

"The hotel its self is set on the banks of the river, access to the car park is very narrow and the car park it self is very tight when a number of vehicles are parked. Hotel Staff - very friendly. Rooms - very vlean, tidy and comfortable. Food - evening meal: good selection on the menu"

"Good hotel, cleanliness is an issue for sure. Rooms clean is not bad. Pool & changing room, very poor condition of showers, floors, pool etc Breakfast was good on weekend but weekday, low staff & cleanliness etc all dropped again "

"Lovely stay, it was my second time there. However, I was in a room that was right above the fans/generators or something so it was really noisy even at nearly 11pm and came back to life at 5am. Other than those times I slept well. The room needed a new TV the screen was purple and didn’t have any other colouring. I would stay again though, it is a lovely hotel and the food is delicious too. East parking and great facilities, "
