The first room that was assigned to us had a problem with the toilet, but we were upgraded to a slightly better room. As usual, the heater/AC unit was a little noisy but the weather was nice and we slept well without it. The included breakfast was the best we'd had on our trip thus far.

Kid friendly with lots of amenities. Could use some updating! Beds are very uncomfortable and old. No way to control the temperature in the room. There was a thermostat but the room temp stayed at 78 even after trying to adjust the temp.

We were very disappointed in this property. We booked based upon the rating but found it to be less desirable than the ranking. We were on the first floor and I always double check the window for security sake and indeed I did find the window unlocked. Next I found black mold in the bathroom, I took photos of it. Then they only left us two decaf coffees and two tea in the room. I called to ask that they bring us regular coffee but they never came. Breakfast in the morning looked good but everything was cold. My eggs were very cold. The room next door had something going on (remodel) but they had a loud compressor of some type running all night. Lastly, access to the hotel was difficult and not lit at all. I do not recommend this hotel at all.

Bed was totally sunken in, door in the bathroom was chipping and water damaged at the bottom. Hair in the sink. And as we were parking a guy knocked on our window asking for $13 to reserve a room, because he was short. We will not be back.

Check in was very fast and efficient. Gym was small but good working equipment and clean. Room was a little dated but somewhat clean. Shower has poor pressure. Breakfast was excellent. Price is very good. Pool looked to be in excellent condition although I did not use. Hallway smelled like weed but my room did not. Lots of parking available. Good restaurant on site with good prices.

The pool was absolutely freezing there was no way that the heater was working. There was also a party in the atrium that went to 2am with loud music, party poppers and people screaming. The same party earlier had 2 drunk men arguing in the lobby before 8pm.

The breakfast was good. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. I didn't like that the door coming into the building from outside didn't lock. We didn't need to use our passkey to open the door.

Our Usual Hotel!
Everything was good as usual. However the tv wouldn’t work it said no signal. But it was ok because we brought our game system. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The staff here was great and the so friendly. Even the staff that served breakfast. The pool was also great. The problem was that the room and tub were dirty. The tub was backed up. The bathtub curtain was dirty. The Floor was dirty. The curtains were ripped... It just wasn't for me. I would say the staff was amazing but the room was no good.

There are very few reasonably priced nice hotels available "west" of Brady St in Davenport. Kind of a "hotel desert". The Steeplegate has been a mainstay for many years. The property is starting to show it's age, and some updates (bathrooms and carpets, paint)may be needed to keep it's ratings at good or better for me to continue staying here. It is fairly easily accessed from the interstate, and a short drive to just about anywhere in the QC's. The employees are pleasant, efficient, and helpful. This stay our check in was quick, room was clean, bed comfortable with plenty of pillows, good water pressure in shower. Towels could have been a little puffier and softer. Carpet in room while vacuumed, needed a thorough shampoo or replaced. Bathroom was clean enough, but fixtures are showing their age. We have stayed here several times and will continue to do so. We have had the breakfast buffet in the past (not this trip) and there is something to like for just about everyone. We have tried the newer competitor hotel across the street, paid more for a similar room, and not near the amenities offered at Steeplegate. So if you don't mind a little older property that has good employees, some nice sized clean rooms, a restaurant, bar, pool, and fairly quiet, I highly recommend this location. We will stay again.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the restaurant was surprisingly good and the rooms/common areas were very clean. Yes, the room furniture is little dated… but overall it was a really excellent stay and we would return for sure.

Everything was great, except the building needed a little TLC. There was some chipped paint and wallpaper coming loose from the wall. Our room was clean and tidy, we were able to park close to our room, and the staff was friendly.
