This stay was a disappointment. The place was clean but it is not worth the price tag. It's the upstairs of a VERY old home that seems to not have had any renovations done for decades. There is only 1 plug in each room and when we plugged things in the plug was so loose it just fell out over and over. You can hear the downstairs folks easily. The kitchen is very small and lacks proper dishes or cooking utensils that should be considered basic. For example, only 1 small knife. 1 very large frying pan. There were 2 others but they were so rusted and old we couldn't use them. There were 2 glasses. We had to call to ask for dish soap as it wasn't provided. We saw mice every night in the kitchen. They chewed through our sealed bag of pretzels on the counter. The internet went down twice for several hours and does not reach one of the bedrooms. The location is great. Walking distance to a lot but that's really the only reason to book it. Otherwise I would avoid. The price is too high for what you get.
I had a great stay at this place, historic charm, close to the waterfront, and a nice park across the street, the front deck and roof top patio were perfect, I look forward to staying here again Chris

Neat old apartment with some quirks.
Parking is not on site, but is street parking around the corner. This was a bit of a security concern for me, as I travel with a lot of stuff in my car. It seemed about as safe as you can get with on street parking though.

This stay can be described in three word: the dangerous, the annoying and the positivesThe dangerous is:the beehive under the front porch, lack of light switch at the bottom of the stairs, the extension cords that run all over the floor, the large cracks in the ceiling where plaster can fall on your head. The annoying are:only one air conditioner in the master bedroom, the light bulbs that are out,the mice that run all over the kitchen and eat your food that is left out,the microwave on top of the fridge, unable to open oven door without moving the dishwasher, the washer and dryer in the bedroom with wet linens in it, the bathroom door nob that falls off, the mould in the bathroom, the shower nob was off, the sink was clogged and took a whole bottle of drano and then reclogged, the windows that were propped up by wood and often lacked screens and the cobwebs on the walls and ceiling. The good is an ideal location, easy access with a key and owner did respond to the clog drain with a bottle of drano.
We booked this property for 3 nights and left within an hour — only long enough to take photos. It is a complete health hazard and should be shut down. The host claimed “professional cleaners” had been in that very day, yet I could write my name in the thick dust on the TV. Thick cobwebs hung in every corner, and mouse droppings were everywhere — on the kitchen table, in cupboards, under and on the pull-out bed, and scattered across the floor. It smelt of urine. The microwave was filthy, pots and pans were greasy and piled on the floor, and dirt and debris filled every corner. One window was propped open with a block of wood, others were brokenJunk-filled drawers, wrappers left by past guests, and a BBQ that looked like it had never been cleaned only added to the neglect. Yes, it’s a 100-year-old house, but there’s a huge difference between “old” and “filthy.”When I raised concerns, the host Angela dismissed me with “NO refund, deal with it.” After a 6-hour drive, that is not what you want to hear. Pointing out the obvious state of filth, she accused me of being rude — I was just stating facts. Pictures don’t lie! With an asthmatic in our group, staying would have been dangerous. What should have been a special weekend for a 60th birthday was ruined; we had no choice but to turn around and drive home the same day. So many more photos that have been passed to VrboAvoid this property at all costs.
This place should not be listed as a temporary vacation stay. It's already occupied.... by mice, or rats, or something. We had left a sealed bag of trail mix out on the table, and when we got up the next day, there were multiple holes in the bag, and bits of raisins and nuts scattered around.
The unit was not clean at all. There were dust webs all over the place, paint was peeling off the walls, there were piles of dust and debris in the corners and behind the radiators, and it had an underlying odour of cat urine.
The furniture was all very old, worn out, smelled, and in general poor condition. The unit was crammed with things - multiple old lamps that weren't plugged in (because there were no outlets anywhere), tea cups in china cabinets, trinkets on shelves, etc... It's almost as if they inherited this house from an elderly relative, didn't change a thing, and decided to profit off of the space by listing it. We could only find two plugs to charge our devices (one in the kitchen and one behind the tv with about 5 things plugged into it), the tv was on a stand on which it didn't fit (it was hazardous), there was no outlet in the bathroom, and the bathroom door didn't even open properly because the toilet was in the way.
Avoid this property if you hope to have a comfortable stay in a clean place, but I will say that the location was ideal - right downtown Dartmouth, and not far from the bridge to get to Halifax.
