It is an excellent place to stay if you are not looking for a classical style "Hotel". It has a very warm and ready-to-please Staff - only 8 of them to manage all ten rooms. It is a heritage Property with all the quaintness and old-world charm in terms of the building and furnishings etc. It has a feeling of a large Homestay with very personalised Service.
Recently renovated and therefore still needs some "De-bugging"
I would recommend it if you are looking for a warm and stay
The staff here were incredibly friendly and helpful. They helped organise a fantastic driver Sajan to help with navigating the sights .
Cooking in house great too. Having ladies to talk to helped me as a single female traveller. Thanks for all.

Great location, very pleased to have a room heater at no extra charge. Kitchen struggled to serve breakfast at appointed time, or as ordered, or even to open the dining room and turn on the lights by 8 am. Some of it was language issues, some was poor communication between reception and kitchen. The hotel is a bit creaky, but you could call it character. I enjoyed my stay.
Staying at Ivanhoe Hotel is like stepping into Darjeeling’s rich colonial past. Established in the late 19th century, this heritage property exudes timeless charm with its beautifully preserved architecture and vintage interiors. Once a residence for British officials, it now offers guests a chance to experience history with modern comforts. The antique furniture, cozy fireplaces, and serene ambiance transport you to a bygone era, making it an ideal retreat for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. A truly unique and memorable experience!

I stayed 2 delightful nights at the Ivanhoe. Your managers couldnt have been more helpful and thoughtful. The old part of the hotel is far nicer than the new annex.
I stayed in a cosy room ( Col Sir Younghusband )with a fireplace, surrounded by thoughts on who had graced these rooms in the past. A place with a lot of character and lovely staff. Well done and thank you.

Ivanhoe is a real gem in a crowded hotel market in Darjeeling. Takes you back to the British colonial Era. will always be my first choice at Darjeeling.

The friendliest welcome ever
We booked this hotel for its heritage and its connection to various historical figures. What we hadn't counted on was such a warm welcome. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble, and when we were asked what we would like for breakfast on the evening before, we requested some things that weren't on their breakfast menu (We hadn't seen it at that point)and they went out and bought them specially. We honestly cannot wait to visit again.
