Crystal-Clear Ham Lake Family Cabin, Deck, Water Toys, 2 Hours from MSP
This classic Northwoods cabin is set on a heavily wooded lot with 150 feet of private shoreline on crystal-clear Ham Lake, offering a peaceful, family-friendly setting that’s ideal for slowing down and spending time together.
Lake & Outdoor Living
Ham Lake is known for its exceptionally clear water and quiet atmosphere. Because there is no public boat access, the lake remains calm and uncrowded, making it especially enjoyable for swimming, paddling, fishing, and relaxing by the water.
Guests have access to a private dock with a bench, a favorite place for fishing, stargazing, or simply sitting and taking in the lake. The cabin provides a variety of lake equipment, including kayaks, a stand-up paddleboard, rafts, a diving platform, and a rowboat-style fishing boat with a trolling motor.
A large wraparound deck overlooking the lake creates space for meals, morning coffee, and long afternoons outside. The covered portion of the deck allows you to stay outdoors during light rain or warm summer days. A firepit near the woods above the lake offers a quiet, natural spot for evening fires and conversation.
Inside the Cabin
Inside, the cabin is comfortable, well maintained, and thoughtfully arranged for families and multi-generational groups. The layout includes two bedrooms plus an open loft, along with shared living spaces that work well for meals, games, and relaxing after a day on the lake.
The kitchen is well stocked for preparing family meals, and the cabin includes games and indoor activities for downtime.
Location & Area
One of the advantages of this cabin is its accessibility. Ham Lake is approximately two hours from the Minneapolis metro, making it well suited for long weekends and shorter getaways.
The surrounding area offers quiet country roads for biking, nearby mountain bike trails, and easy access to ATV trails in summer and snowmobile trails in winter, providing year-round recreation beyond the lake.
Important Notes
This is a quiet, family-oriented property best suited for guests who value a peaceful setting. It is not intended for parties or large gatherings.
Ham Lake has no public boat ramp, and there is no boat access for non-residents. Guests are welcome to enjoy the water using the provided kayaks, paddleboard, rowboat, and other lake gear.

Steve has taken great care in making the cabin feel peaceful, cozy, welcoming, and fully stocked. We had everything we needed to cook our meals, play games, relax to the fireplace with chats, a good book, or a movie. We've stayed at many places and this one by far had the most comfortable furniture. We loved the beautiful lake views through the trees and we even saw The Northern Lights. Steve was quick to respond when we had a question and resolved it immediately. We'd stay here again and bring our tiny humans next time because there are plenty of beds to fit us all. Thanks Steve for providing a wonderful cabin for our "Sisterfest" weekend!
What a wonderful place to stay for Labor Day weekend! There were 6 of us total which seemed to a good amount for the size of the cabin. There are extra beds up in the loft but 2 main bedrooms with comfortable beds and & bedding/towels. We loved the coziness of the cabin that had everything we needed. Because you are up on the hill by the lake, it almost feels like the cabin is in the trees which is fun. We loved the large deck that wraps around the cabin with plenty of seating and the gas grill for quick and easy cooking. We enjoyed some campfires and heard the loons one evening from the lake. Kitchen and living room has open concept so great for hanging out as a family. My boys had a blast using the small row boat with trolling motor and fishing off the dock. They caught tons of small bass and a few big one (3lb and 4lb) and 38" Pike. The lake was nice a clear. One thing to keep in mind is the stairs down to the lake, which was fine for most of us young folks, but grandma needed a little help to get up and down. Steve was so great to work with when we had questions and he even came out to fix a beeping noise, wow, what service. Highly recommend this for your next get away.
We had a great stay! The cabin was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We came up with another couple for our final UTV ride of the season and couldn’t have asked for a better location or weather. We started each morning with coffee on the front deck, and it was incredibly peaceful. Steve was great and very easy to communicate with, which we appreciated. We’d absolutely stay here again!
WOW! This was such a fabulous stay- This cabin is so carefully cared for and immaculately clean, we instantly felt right at home and comfortable-Steve the owner was incredibly attentive and even checked in via email about our arrival and if we had any questions-The beds were comfortable , the living room and deck furniture were so lovely and inviting. We spent most of our time outdoors, and a lovely treat was the AC - what a luxury for a cabin! The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals and the grill was perfect.Fishing from the dock was amazing- so we even had a fish fry! The paddle board was a hit with my son! He loved early morning lake time-We really had a wonderful time We didn't take pictures but everything is just as is shown on the website-Thanks Steve and Sue!
