"Free breakfast was very limited to cold cereal a few small muffins, bagels and fruit. There was a waffle maker which we didn’t use. Coffee was fine. Hot tub was closed the first night, probably for maintenance, because it was open the second day. Pool looked inviting but we didn’t get a chance to use it either day. Biggest turn off was the ant invasion in our bathroom the 1st night and the huge dying cockroach we found inside our room near the bathroom door when we returned to the room the 2nd night. Both were taken care of by the guest. FYU, we stayed in the ADA room 221, which is on the north side of the property facing the main road, which is fairly noisy due to traffic. Meanwhile the staff were friendly and efficient and the other guests we encountered all seemed friendly as well. Bottom line, Dana Point Marina Inn is old and tired, but it is still a great location, with a laid back beach vibe. The good news is that the entire harbor area is in the middle of a major renovation project that will be completed in 2028. So, many of the old shops and restaurants are closed. However, once this massive renovation project is complete the “new” hotel(s) shops and restaurants will be worth the wait and an extended visit to this charming and historic coastal community."

"Pictures on hotels.com were of the other best western in town- it was not on the beach. Room was okay. It faced a very busy loud street with ill fitting doors- basically it was like a motel from the past. Needs updating!"

"Watch out because this hotel is under renovation so lots of construction going on which we didn’t know at the time of booking. We had a fabulous breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Jose the restaurant server was very attentive and accommodating. All staff members were very gracious under the circumstances of the hotel’s renovation."

"Our room air conditioner was extremely loud and even woke us up when it came on at night. To get hot water in the sink we had to turn on the bathtub full blast so it got to the sink. Really? The TV stations they offer are a joke. Half are not english and the other half are HSN. Breakfasts are ok. Today they ran out of Blueberries and bananas. The scrambled eggs had the consistency of a rubber ball. The room we had was large, which was good. The strength and flow of the shower was very weak. Overall not worth the price"

"Great location, walkable to everything. Clean, cute, and functional home with excellent outdoor spaces. Easy check in/out logistics. It's in a dense neighborhood and we had some noise from a neighboring property, but the host was responsive in helping to deal with that."

"We truly enjoyed staying at this home. We were in need of a place to stay during some home renovations and this home was perfect. It was still relatively close to our home and schools, yet far enough away that we felt like it was a little adventure. We were able to walk to the harbor, and check out new restaurants and shops.The home is well equipped with all that you need. The space is cozy and inviting, the deck is wonderful in the afternoon sun and I absolutely love the quaint size. Bob & Robin are delightful and made us feel welcome in their home. Not sure we'll have renovations in the future - but if we needed a place in Dana, this would be the spot."

"The property was amazing.. problem was the resort was inundated with a large number of babies, infants, toddler s and adolescents. It was like visiting a daycare center.. kids in pool with diapers, dogs running around off leach and kids jumping in spa like it was a pool.., parents were feckless!"
