Filled with artisanal bars, cafés and stores, the Dallas Arts District is the hub of the city’s performance culture. Its galleries, museums and theatres showcase the best in local and visiting talent in an area containing leafy parks and gardens. Attend a show at the AT&T Performing Arts Centre, which has everything from ballet and modern dance recitals to celebrity talks and Broadway plays.

Intriguing geometric shapes and a glassy exterior adorn the façade of the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Centre, where the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Chorus and the Dallas Wind Symphony play.

For visual arts, the Dallas Museum of Art features a collection of local and international works spanning many cultures, times and styles. Try something a little different at the Nasher Sculpture Centre, which has a range of intriguing metal monuments as well as works by international artists including Matisse and Miró. Browse the galleries of the Crow Museum of Asian Art.

Just north is the long and narrow Klyde Warren Park, where locals gather to play ball games and enjoy picnics at the innovative green space built over a multi-lane highway. Head beyond its southeastern corner to see the Cathedral Santuario de Guadalupe, built in 1902.

The Dallas Arts District lies between Bryan Place and Downtown Dallas in the heart of the city. Ride the M-Line of the trolley to one of several stops in the area or travel here by bus.
