"Stayed here for a night. Orlando, the owner, welcomed us and showed us the room. He was very nice and hospitable. The room was clean, I liked the interior design of the suite we got. We met two kittens who were friendly. If you like cats, they will gladly enter your room. If you don’t, you might want to consider. They are very sneaky going inside, but they are cute. "Nice grounds and adequate rooms with nice personnel. Food same night after night at buffet mostly- salad bar and fruit best and stick with made to order items when can otherwise. No beach presence. You can get your own chairs at Palace in trees and drag (heavy) yourself. No town near by. Expensive for what it is. "

"There was food tray beside our door when we checked in and it was still there the next day when we checked out. Made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the hotel. While trying to sleep a worker started loudly plastering the ceiling in the hallway right in front of our room. 9:30/10pm. The aircon was loud and turned on and off frequently. For a 400$ CND hotel I was very disappointed."

"Room was in good condition and large with kitchen. Comfortable bed. Beach sand is soft. Pools were nice and at top of hill with the food & drinks. Some common areas need a bit of maintenance/upkeep. Rooms are down the steep hill in rows. Stayed in 300's about 1/2 way down. Walking down was not bad, did not need to walk up as shuttle arrived at the right times. The shuttle ran a loop that seemed pretty frequent. They say every 5-15 min, but never had to wait even 5. Only time I saw it full was the 7am first run when everyone wanted breakfast then too. Though the resort did not seem very crowded. Food and drinks are the low point. Beer is local Imperial which is good. Only have about 5 bottles of generic alcohol for anything else. One rum, scotch, tequila, vodka, and maybe a couple more bottles. So they can't make all drinks. No name brand bottles like the Expedia pictures show. Food is also limited. About a 6 warming tray buffet. Generally the meat was too tough to cut with the knives they provided. Saw someone with burgers, but not sure how to get one of those. Dessert was good. Breakfast they can make omlets."

"This would be a great stop for a luxury stay over a few days but wasn't worth the cost or distance for a single night stay. The sites of interest are spread out over quite a distance and it's not practical to fit in a visit to more than one of them between check-in and Costa Rica's early sundown. The rooms themselves are nice but not special, the cost/value proposition is really about what sites/activities are included and how easy they make it to book tours on the Hacienda grounds. The food was great but a meal of typical "casados" (the most economical option) ran our family of four $100 CAD. The grounds are beautiful and I would recommend the hacienda to those looking for an all-inclusive, but not a short stay."
