"Words just can’t express how overwhelmingly happy we are with our stay with the Great Western Hotel, Taunton. The building itself is beautiful and lovingly kept, with every aesthetic detail exuding style and quality! Our room was lovely with stylish decor and little touches like a real cafetière, instead of instant coffee, made it feel more personal. Breakfast was high quality and again, personalised! The staff were more than happy to fully adjust the menu to meet our preferences and were just delightful. I feel very strongly that the staff deserve a special thank you… each and every member of their team went above and beyond to make myself and my daughter feel welcome and comfortable. My very nervous daughter was about to sit her first GCSE in Taunton, hence the overnight stay, and the staff were just so beautiful with her and really helped to reassure her. She went off to the exam centre beaming! In addition to all of this- they allowed us to use their parking, free of charge while we went into the town for lunch after the exam. I have stayed in many hotels over the year, but this little gem is by far the best yet. I can’t recommend enough. A huge thank you for making a potentially stressful trip a pure delight! ❤️"

"Easy to find and had plenty of parking when I arrived. Communication for check in and check out was very good. The ensuite room was great - very clean, nice temperature, and very well-appointed. The lodge does not offer breakfast or dining but is just a 5 minute walk into the city centre. Overall it was great value - can highly recommend and would return. "

"This unit was a relatively new apartment with all basic amenities and convenient parking. It has a washer, dishwasher, and microwave making it perfect for a short stay.The challenge however is the maintenance. We walked into a unit with a broken bed, dirty air vents, dusty sofas, and internet that wasn't working. To their credit, they fixed the broken bed next day. However, the internet was a whole another story. After some back and forth, they added funds to make the internet work on day 2. And much to our dismay it stopped working on day 5 because it ran out of funds. This time, despite a million questions from the maintenance team, internet never came back. It also lacked basic consumables like laundry detergents, soaps, and shampoo. Not a big deal but just annoying when you have to go to Tesco to buy when you take these as normally available.More than the inconveniences, it was the poor service which made us unhappy. If they fix it, this could be a good place but until then two stars is generous."

"Just a one night stay to visit relatives but will definitely eat at the hotel on our next visit. Great staff, very friendly and helpful in check-in and also when checking out, huge room with hairdryer, iron etc and tea & coffee. Would definitely recommend."
