The best areas to stay in Costa Dei Monaci are Tropea for a lively experience or Capo Vaticano for a more relaxed setting.

Tropea is often considered the jewel of the "Coast of the Gods" and is perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The historic centre is a maze of narrow, cobbled streets, opening onto charming piazzas and viewpoints offering breathtaking vistas of the Santa Maria dell'Isola sanctuary. The main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, is bustling with shops, restaurants, and gelaterias. It's a fantastic place for couples looking for a mix of historic exploration and evening entertainment.

Capo Vaticano, just a short drive south of Tropea, is renowned for its stunning white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, particularly around the Grotticelle area. This headland offers a more tranquil alternative to Tropea, with hotels and resorts often boasting direct access to secluded coves. It's an excellent choice for couples seeking a peaceful escape with beautiful natural surroundings and opportunities for swimming and sunbathing.

The best time to go to Costa Dei Monaci is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, or September, when the weather is pleasantly warm, and the crowds are smaller.

These months offer ideal conditions for enjoying the region's beautiful beaches and outdoor activities without the peak summer heat and larger numbers of tourists. You'll find the sea warm enough for swimming, and the local towns are still lively with markets and restaurants.

For travellers who prefer the warmest temperatures and a bustling atmosphere, July and August are also excellent choices. This is the height of summer, superb for long days on the beach and experiencing the full holiday season with plenty of events and activities.
