About this property

2 Bed in Consett (oc-96375)

  • Escape with your loved ones to this traditional stone cottage near the picturesque village of Blanchland. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, it’s ideal for families or couples in search of a welcoming retreat to call home while they explore the North Pennine National Landscape together. The historic village of Blanchland is just 2 miles away and has a renowned friendly inn dating back to the 12th century, which serves daily meals and quality ales. Discover stunning sweeping views at Derwent Reservoir (4 miles), a rich habitat for wading birds and red squirrels, or head off to the lively market town of Hexham (13 miles), which is famous for its Roman heritage, charming stone architecture and vibrant arts scene. Alternatively, step back in time at the fascinating Beamish and Bowes Museum (24 miles) – The Living Museum of the North.

Pull into your private parking area (there’s room for two cars) and head to your cottage’s back door. Step inside and you’ll be welcomed by a traditional open-plan kitchen/dining area. Take a moment to appreciate the country-style decor, the warm, rustic cabinets, and the eclectic wall art and decorative crockery. Make your way to the cosy lounge, and you’ll find a cheerful space complete with plush seating, a Smart TV, books and games – the perfect place to socialise with your loved ones while the electric fire warms you. When it’s time to eat, head back to the farmhouse kitchen area and whip up some dinner to share in the light and bright dining area. Upstairs, you’ll find two lovely bedrooms – a charming double and spacious twin, each with attractive furnishings and furniture. Completing the layout, there’s a traditional family bathroom with a bath and a WC.

Outside, at the rear, there is a bench seat, perfect for sitting with a coffee while putting on walking boots. At the front and side of the property, there is a shared garden (not enclosed) with stunning views. You will find a shared picnic area with benches and a BBQ. Fire up the charcoal BBQ and relax over an al fresco dinner at one of the picnic tables while you soak up tranquil views over the rolling hills, and there are 4.5 acres of the owner's land to explore from here.
