Hot tub overlooking Lake Monroe. Pet Friendly!
Soaring Eagle Cabin is located on Lake Monroe's backwater and is surrounded by nature. This low-maintenance house has two bathrooms, a large kitchen, a 4-person hot tub, and a game room with a double Murphy bed.
There is a pleasant ambiance in the living room. You can play a game of pool on the lower level or stream music using the high-speed wireless internet. From the large sunroom, you can see the water of Lake Monroe lapping against the shore.
Soaring Eagle Cabin sits in a private location, yet you'll find it's close to Brown County State Park (8 miles), Nashville (17 miles), Bloomington (17 miles), and Columbus (30 miles).
Please note: This home is remote — located 30 minutes from town and accessed via a 20-minute drive from the highway on winding gravel roads. While the drive is scenic, it may not be ideal for those seeking quick town access or smooth pavement. For many of our guests, however, this journey is part of the charm — a chance to truly get away from it all.
Rural Environment Notice Our cabins are located in the beautiful woods and countryside of Brown County, Indiana. While we provide routine professional pest control and keep our homes clean and well-maintained, guests may occasionally see seasonal pests such as mice, flies, lady beetles (Asian beetles), or stink bugs — especially in the fall and spring.
These harmless insects are part of life in a rural setting. We do everything possible to minimize their presence and appreciate your understanding as part of the authentic Brown County experience!
PET-FRIENDLY PROPERTY: There is a $75 fee per pet. Moondance Vacation Homes proudly donates a portion to the Brown County Humane Society when you bring your pet and pay your pet fee.
All gas fireplaces are seasonal and available for use from October 1st to April 1st.
The Lake House cabin is next door if you have a large party and need more room.
**Soaring Eagle Cabin sits near the lake and has a reasonably steep drive. It is helpful if you have a front-wheel or four-wheel drive vehicle. Ensure you drive slowly and maintain a steady speed when descending the hill. A designated parking spot is at the top of the hill (if needed).
ALL EVENTS, DAY GUESTS, AND PARTIES ARE PROHIBITED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. Effective July 1, 2025, the county has raised the innkeepers' tax from 5% to 8%.

Secluded setting in a comfortable cabin. Cabin was exactly as described. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend for those wanting to get away from the outside world.
We greatly enjoyed staying in this cabin. Springtime was a wonderful time to see all of the wildflowers and birds. The cabin exceeded all of our expectations. If you are looking for a remote spot in the woods to relax and enjoy nature; then this is it.
We really enjoyed our week! We missed the full fall colors by a week or so but the area is still beautiful. Really enjoyed the fire pit and pool table. Hot tub wasn’t working but property management was quick to respond and gave a very generous partial refund to compensate us. Highly recommend if you’re looking for peace and quiet!
The property is remote, about 4-5 miles off highway on gravel roads. But the setting is beautiful, and the facility is clean and well-kept. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property manager was responsive and helpful. I plan to return.
Liked everything but the hot tub. Smaller than what the pictures show. Does not fit 4 adults comfortably and the cover blocks the view of the water! Owner was very nice and is mailing us a couple of items we left in error.
Cabin was nice. Clean, no issues at all. It is a gravel road drive to it, a decent length from town so it is isolated as described. I have a Toyota car that handled the road and driveway fine. Maybe could have issues on drive if it was super rainy or snowy but if not it’s not a bad drive.
We stayed Friday and Saturday night to watch a football game at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. The cabin is in a beautiful secluded location on Monroe Lake and is surrounded by nature.
The cabin was clean and nicely decorated.
During our stay the hot tub was not working but the owner agreed to take $50 per night off our bill.
Please be advised that you must travel about six miles on a gravel road to reach this cabin. You must also be able to walk up several flights of stairs to get to it. It is not suitable for those who have any type of mobility impairment.
We were looking for a quiet, secluded place to stay that was pet friendly and included a hot tub. This spot checked off every box. We had a lovely time. It was clean and inviting, fully stocked with essential items and a fully stocked kitchen. There’s a Murphy bed and a pool table with a separate bathroom which is nice for additional privacy. The bed mattress is very lumpy and worn in but it gives that cabin feel you’re kind of looking for I think. Things I’d note to future guests:
- Bring boots with good grip! It’s a steep drop down to the lake and if you have pets that need to go out it can be tricky!
- Check the hot tub as soon as you arrive. We had a bit of a snafu with ours, it wasn’t functioning properly. But they were receptive and offered an easy solution to help us still use the hot tub during our stay.
- The pet fee is $75 per pet. We weren’t able to locate that information on the listing, so I thought it’d be helpful to list here. Also, when the fee was processed, it was taxed. Just FYI.
The property was beautiful. We went for fishing trip and caught a lot of fish. If some of the trees were trimmed close to the bank the fishing would have been better.
