Enjoyed our cozy weekend in Brown County! Had that old-fashioned cabin vibe with modern amenities (good water pressure, new appliances, comfy bed). Had a lovely stay!
Wife and I wanted to get away for a long weekend to relax and get in some outdoor activity. This was a great location and cabin. It was clean, well-decorated, and cozy. Perfect location near great hiking and excellent gravel and road cycling.
We had a great weekend! We were looking for a good three day weekend to go hiking and visit the town of Nashville. This cabin was perfect for us, and certainly as advertised. Nice and tucked away with privacy but still close enough to town. We would definitely stay there again.
This cabin has so much character.
Someone really cares about this place.
Loved the screen porch, local restaurants, nearby Brown County state park…the local distillery wasn’t bad either.
My husband and I along with our three dogs truly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was as advertised. It was very clean and had all the amenities we could have wanted. Our dogs loved exploring the grounds. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Great stay and I would definitely recommend to anyone.
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was peaceful and secluded but close to Nashville. The cabin had everything we could want except wifi. We loved how the cabin was decorated and especially the fox, it took us 2 days to find it on the beams. We hope to stay again!
My husband and I enjoy history and nature. Our stay here definitely had that and more. We were so happy to stay here that we plan on coming in the summer or fall time! Very clean and comforting. Only thing about it was that there is no wifi and I never had service but I didnt mind very much.
Super cute little cabin, really enjoyed the screened in porch. Very quiet and got to see mama and baby deer in the evening. 2 air conditioners and ceiling fans kept us cool. Perfect cabin for a lovely, old fashioned Christmas.
The cabin was rustic yet modern, so cozy! Close to Nashville with an isolated country feel. We didn’t spend a lot of our time outside(December)- but our Lab loved exploring the property! Magical laying in bed at night listening to total silence…….
A perfect getaway for myself and my dog. I felt completely safe traveling alone and my dog loved exploring the grounds. The cabin felt incredibly comfortable and clean. No Wi-Fi but texting worked and the tv had enough stations to feel connected.
Perfect distance to brown county state park…. And the town of Nashville was on the way which was a cute town to explore.
We loved this cabin so much! It was so cozy. It had everything we needed for a long weekend. The location was exactly what we had hoped for. It was secluded, but still only a ten minute drive from downtown Nashville.
The host was wonderful about answering our questions and getting back with us quickly when we reached out to him.
Thank you making us feel right at home!
The cabin is really cute and full of history and antiques, yet comfortable and well supplied. It was a perfect set up for my husband and I and our 2 dogs. No internet and no phone which can be good but a bit isolating and a bit farther from Nashville, IN than we might have liked but a great retreat and screened in porch area was really a welcome spot to read.
We had a peaceful couple of days. We did like the property. It was exactly as described. It was out of the way and secluded but close to everything we wanted to do. The only issue we had was with no central air and only 2 window air conditioners it was quite warm in the cabin. It was almost 90 degrees the days we stayed so definitely a factor. Overall this is a great little place to stay.
Everything was so well appointed & the location was perfect for our time away. Even enjoyed not having wifi!!! The only thing I would reccomend is a better mattress . We are older and the mattress seemed hard and uncomfortable.
The place would be perfect if that was better.
Thank you.m,
MarySue Edmiston
This cottage was adorable. It had a rustic feel and was extremely clean. The communication was excellent with the owner and they even helped us with questions before our stay. Our only disappointment was that the second bed as an air mattress. We didn't read carefully enough and saw 2 beds. So, don't be like us and read to ensure that you're ok with the second bed being an inflatable.
Again, this cabin/cottage was clean, cute and perfect for anyone staying in the Nashville area.
We arrived to this cute out in the woods cabin after dinner. It was easy to access and the gravel drive was steep but not terribly bumpy. It was well appointed with all the kitchen utensils and surprisingly had a Keurig!
It smelled of a wood fire and dust but that should be expected in a house this old! We loved looking through journal entries left starting in 2012, as well as the old pictures/designs for the original cabin. The back and porch doors were original and very old locking mechanism that went along with this cabins rustic theme.
The water heat/pressure for the stand up shower was excellent.
We saw deer each morning while we drank our coffee on the lovely screened porch.
We used Grandma Barnes Cabin as our base for the April 2024 solar eclipse and could not have been happier! The cabin and property were both beautiful and were the perfect place for us to unwind for the weekend. We didn't spend much time in Nashville itself due to the crowds in town for the event, but did a lot of hikes in Brown County State Park (some of them multiple times) and loved all of them. Best of all, the eclipse wound up lining up with a big gap in the trees above the cabin so we didn't even have to leave and fight the traffic/crowds to view it. It was truly perfect.
The cabin itself was as clean as is possible for a rustic cabin to be, and was well stocked with all of the basic amenities we needed. Unlike some of the other reviewers we did not have cell service at the cabin so we were totally disconnected for the weekend, but for us that's not a bad thing. We had not been to Brown County before but are already talking about going back, and we will absolutely stay here again if it's available.
The nicest rustic cabin we've stayed in yet. Had everything we needed. Bring firewood if you want to use the fireplace. Bring coffee. Nice/interesting primitive decor and antiques. A rebuilt log cabin which was really cool. Nice welcome book with information. We wanted a quiet getaway to relax over New years and plan out our next year. Very close to Nashville downtown. No WIFI, but we wanted to unplug. We did have enough cell coverage for phone calls and checking email/texts. The stairs in front are quite steep for anyone that has disabilities. However, you may be able to enter from the back, I didn't check that out. Steep driveway, we did fine with our truck. This would be a great cabin for summertime. Had a really nice deck and screened in porch. Would book again.
