Hazards Homestay, a recently refurbished holiday home, 5 minutes drive to town.
Designed with indoor/outdoor living in mind, our comfortable home has decks on three sides accessed by sliding doors at the back and front. Ideally, a stay of 3-4 nights would allow you to really experience much of what the region has to offer. The rates for Hazards Homestay are based on four guests staying and not just two then $25+ per extra person per night, as is often the case at other Coles Bay rental properties. There are ten or more glorious beaches, lots of scenic walks of varying duration, lookouts, many exciting dolphin watching boat cruises, kayak and 4-wheel drive bike tours, a fascinating marine farm excursion, several nearby vineyards with tasting of iconic Tasmanian wines. Our holiday home is a fully equipped house. The large open plan kitchen, dining, living area has a pine lined cathedral ceiling and a wood heater that can be used to warm the entire house. There are three bedrooms; one has a double bed, another has a queen size bed whilst the third bedroom has two bunk beds and a single bed. In total three singles and two double beds can sleep seven comfortably. Ideal for two small families. Please let us know which beds you intend to use and we will prepare them for you and supply towels and tea towels. All beds have quilts and pillows and extra blankets are stored in the bedroom drawers. We can also provide a portable cot. There is a large fully equipped kitchen, dining and living area. The new bathroom has a shower, toilet and hand basin. There is a second separate toilet. Upstairs is not accessible. The laundry has a washing machine, sink and our storage cupboards. The firewood is stacked near the water tank. I use my mobile to access the internet and can use it as a hotspot for my laptop. Free wifi is available in the Coles Bay village. Before guests leave, we do ask that you leave the shack in a clean, neat and tidy condition. The Swanwick golf course is very close and the clubrooms have a dining area and bar, A boat ramp is at the Swan River in Swanwick and two boat ramps are about 3 kilometres away in Coles Bay. Great Oyster Bay is about 15km long and 8km wide and is sheltered by the Freycinet Peninsula, making it perfect for boating, fishing or just enjoying the magnificent scenery. Around the Coles Bay region it is easy get to the many stunning beaches with beautiful white sand derived from the red granite which form the magnificent Hazards. Well maintained tracks allow access to the iconic Wineglass Bay and across the isthmus to Hazard Beach and to more beaches further down the peninsula. The turnoff road to beautiful Friendly Beaches is about 10km north along the Coles Bay from Hazards Homestay,
Information about many aspects of the Freycinet National Park will be sent to you after your booking is confirmed. Some brochures highlighting local tours and activities are in the blue folder in the lounge, Additional maps and brochures are available from the Parks and Wildlife headquarters next to the entrance to the park past the Freycinet Lodge. This where you can purchase your National Park entry pass. Because of the nearby conservation areas and the National Park status of the peninsula, we do not allow pets at our holiday house. Plenty of native animals are already living here! In addition to providing privacy, the extensive plantings of native trees, flowering shrubs and grasses around the home attract a variety of wallabies, possums, parrots, wattle birds, blue wrens, black cockatoos kookaburras and many others.

Great holiday house in a quiet location with easy access to the adjacent Freycinet national park. Everthing we needed for an enjoyable stay. Thoroughly enjoyed the house and the National Park.
A fabulous family home, excellent facilities, very clean and comfortable, best place we've stayed so far in Tassie!

Mike’s place was comfortable and ideally located for our stay as we explored the rock climbing around the Hazards. He was very easy to communicate with and made sure we had clear instructions. The house was well set up for the four of us and we enjoyed the spacious deck and living room with fire place for a cold night. We would stay here again!
Really happy with our stay here 5min drive out of the Coles Bay township. Our kids loved this place, plenty of space to play inside and explore it in the bush. There's a track adjacent the house with a easy 15min stroll through the bush down to the beach.
The house was clean and tidy with all the typical requirements. The wood fire kept the house nice and warm.. Three reasonable size bedrooms fitted with comfortable beds.
We would happily recommend this stay

Family for 2 nights
Not bad. Pretty dated, needs an overhaul. Exceptionally clean and well presented. Very long list of instructions for us from the owner, and asking for updates, but got no response in return. Expensive, I guess everywhere is locally. But all in all it did a the job we needed and we liked staying there.
We had a great time at this very comfortable property and loved the fireplace on a cold evening. It has an excellent kitchen which we used for some home cooked meals and loved the view from the newly refurbished bathroom.

Very homely
Loved staying here. There was a range of games and puzzles. Good kitchen to enjoy our own cooking. Would come back
We just enjoyed a fabulous family holiday at Coles bay. The house was very clean, spacious, had everything you could need (including a very well stocked kitchen making cooking easy!). The location was ideal for daily hikes in and around wineglass bay. Our hosts were extremely responsive and a delight to deal with. Would recommend!

Hazards
Property quite old but comfortable. Only parts refurbished
Have to have a fire if you want to have heating in living area.
5 minute drive from town
The house was lovely - great spacious living room with fresh, new carpet, comfy sofas, well equipped and provisioned kitchen and nice outlook onto native coastal vegetation meant that there were lots of birds around and you are not looking onto another property - good holiday vibe! Easy walk (800m) to a lovely beach - good for swimming, walking etc in the bay. Easy drive to Coles Bay township, Freycinet National Park (for great walks and spectacular scenery) and the local Marine Farm for fresh oysters. Really enjoyed the stay here and would return. Just be aware you are expected to clean the property before leaving as it is difficult to get cleaners in the area.

Poor beds, a bit tired
Old Bed frames not great, especially with 3 teenagers. Cobwebs. House rather tired except for bathroom. Beer bottles rattling on buffet each time walked past. Could easily make small improvements.
Great space inside the house and so well set up. Handy location and local tips for walks and off-the-beaten-track beaches were ideal. Would definitely recommend to friends and will return ourselves!
We recently stayed here for an impromptu weekend to Coles Bay. Very comfortable accomodation that is close to beaches, fishing, food and the hazards. Perfect spot to spend a Father’s Day weekend with the family!
