County Arms Birr

8/10 Good
"Very nice rooms but quite a bit away from reception. The design of the reception is a bit odd also - it's immediately obvious where to find the bar/restaurant. It could do with some more prominent signage. But a very nice, clean hotel."

"Simply fantastic. The staff and accomodations were excellent, and we so appreciated receiving a very kind complimentary room upgrade to celebrate our anniversary. The history of the castle and surrounding land is fascinating and steeped in lore, and we enjoyed learning more about this this very special part of the heart of Ireland."

"The Malt Store surpassed our expectations, the apartment was huge, absolutely spotless and extremely comfortable. Birr is a nice little town and we were very close to all amenities. The staff were very prompt and friendly in answering any correspondence regarding our stay. I would thoroughly recommend The Malt Store as accommodation if visiting this part of Ireland. Shearwater Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and cleaned each day. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The bar was modern and staff were pleasant, the food was excellent. We stayed in August and thought as the hotel was busy there would be some nightly entertainment but there wasn't. The pool and it's facilities I couldn't fault. We will definitely return."
