Perfect meeting place for friends

Barnsley Cottage provided the perfect location for old friends to celebrate a birthday together. It is well equipped and extremely homely. The kitchen and sitting room are connected making it a lovely place to cook and eat while relaxing. Annabel is an excellent host who reacted very quickly to any queries.

This property exceeded my expectations. We felt right at home and everything you could possibly need was provided. The beds and pillows were especially comfortable. My only issue is that we didn't stay longer.

Comfortable Barnsley Cottage

Barnsley Cottage was absolutely perfect for what we wanted - 3 families spending the weekend together under 1 roof. It was welcoming, cosy, homely and comfortable. The large warm kitchen was ideal and it was good for 10 of us to sit round the table. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms spacious. The attic bedrooms were perfect for the 4 children. The house and garden were dog friendly and the garden big enough to play in. Absolutely everything was provided and Annabel, the house owner, was welcoming and friendly. We would definitely come back.

A family weekend

We recently stayed at Barnsley Cottage for a weekend with our to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversay. The cottage is spacious but cosy. The garden was beautiful. We could easily reach the places we wanted to visited. My only criticism is that there were so many cupboards that at first it was hard to find things

Perfect family cottage

Fantastic family holiday at Barnsley Cottage. We loved everything about it. Plenty of space for three generations, comfortable and well equipped. My grand daughter (age 4) said ‘the beds are like marshmallows’ and she was right. Lovely garden for the children to play in and for the adults to relax.

Weekend away with friends

Fantastic old cottage, extensively stocked with every type of kitchen appliance and equipment you could need. The cottage layout lends itself to inclusive dining and socialising and is well located in the village for the local pubs. The garden is beautiful with all day sunshine with bbqs for all. Would definitely recommend it and return.

Absolutely lovely home from home!

The cottage was a big hit with all the family. It had everything you might need and what you might not think you need. We all enjoyed our stay and all the home comforts and we would definitely recommend the cottage to all.

Excellent stay for my 30th

We hired the house to celebrate my 30th birthday with family. We had a great time there, the house is very cosy and right in the middle of the Cotswolds. The fireplace was perfect to relax after a day out.

Family celebration

Ideal for multi generational family. Enclosed garden great for the dog to roam.Comfy beds. Plenty of hot water for 10. Well equipped with lots of little extras you dont think about. Underfloor heating in kitchen and log burner great addition especially as the weather was a little indifferent. Village pub across the road is worth a visit Cant wait to go back.

Charming Cotswolds stay

Our multigenerational group of 9 had a lovely stay at the house in July. It is very well equipped for a holiday stay with a fantastic kitchen, toys for the kids, bbq etc and has very comfortable beds. The garden is well maintained with plenty of space. A nice welcome basket from the host who was also in touch to check if we had any issues (which we didn’t). Very well located for visiting different areas of the Cotswolds. We would stay again.

Birthday Celebrations

We stayed here for my partners 50th birthday celebration with parents and teenagers. There was plenty of room for everyone to both have their own space and to come together. Lots of lovely touches such as books and board games and a perfect location to visit the beautiful Cotswolds. We will definitely be back!

Comfortable cozy cottage

Stayed with my family and our family friends on the trip with us, 4 adults and 4 kids ranging from 3-12. The house was so comfortable and spacious for us, and great to have outside space for the kids to run around in. The home was well stocked and we loved sitting in the living room with a fire going while we played board games in the evening. Cute little pub/restaurant down the street for dinners out. Close to Bibury and Burford and Bourton on the Water, which we spent our days exploring. Really comfortable stay and would be happy to stay there again!

A family long weekend

The 'Cottage' is really a house. It holds 10 people comfortably. We enjoyed our family gathering very much. A home from home. The owner - Annabel made us very welcome. The children enjoyed it very much, particularly their bedrooms in the 'attic' & also playing in the garden. The garden is large & plenty of outdoor sitting eating areas. The kitchen is well provided for 10 people. Very good large solid wooden table. Plenty of fridge/feezer space.

Family Weekend Gathering

Barnsley Cottage is a very comfortable and traditional Cotswolds cottage. Ideally located, with a good pub and luxury hotel literally on the doorstep. Great base for touring the southern Cotswolds and Cirencester. Accommodation is spacious and easily provides enough room for large family groups. Bedrooms/bathrooms are great and the king size beds should guarantee a good nights sleep. The host, Annabel, was very attentive and welcoming. The welcome pack was a nice touch. Large, enclosed garden. Decor, furnishings, utensils etc are more “family house” than created holiday let and when you stay there you feel you are using someone’s private house which has a lot of personal items around. We found that charming and involving but it might not suit everyone if looking for more “perfect” decor and amenities such as you would find in a hotel. Overall a very nice time was had by all our family (aged from 70 to 7) and we would recommend Barnsley Cottage to family groups.

Superb

Stunning house with beautiful gardens. There were only six of us celebrating a 70th birthday therefore we didn’t use all the house. Could not believe the lovely welcome basket Prosecco and flowers that were waiting for us. We cooked steaks and a lovely chicken dish plus breakfast each morning. There was so much equipment there for our use. Would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage

Charming cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at Barnsley cottage. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for cooking. And the welcome hamper was a nice touch. It’s rare to find accommodation with so many bathrooms - great for bigger groups. Beds were all comfy and big! The snug had plenty of toys to entertain, which my son loved. Property was quite busy in terms of nicknacks, could do with a declutter and in some areas a dust in would be useful decor looked a bit tired in some areas. Lovely locations for walks and amenities nearby. Host was quick to respond and answer questions. Would recommend!

Perfect for a Big Family Weekend

We had a fantastic time here. It was my Mum's 80th Birthday and the cottage was perfect for our 3 families to get together and celebrate. The house is comfortable and spacious and in terms of equipment has absolutely everything (& I mean everything) that you could possibly want. Loved the big kitchen table for the Friday night meal we cooked in and for breakfast. Nice, big garden that especially in summer would be lovely The village is picture card perfect. We walked over to Bidbury which was a lovely walk and there's plenty of other options for rambling. The Village Pub (despite its stupid name) is super - we had a great meal & its very cosy in a traditional but contemporary way (make sure you book, it was busy.) There's also the Pig Hotel (Barnsley House) which personally I didn't see but my Mum & Dad said was very nice for a drink. (We would have tried their restaurant but it was full) Overall a great base to explore the Cotswolds Many thanks to Annabel for her friendly welcome, good comms, making herself available if we needed her (which we didn't as everything was sorted) and for arranging the perfect early Spring/late winter sunshine :) Oh, the dog thought it was great as well!!

Very nice long weekend family get together

It was a really nice place to meet up & stay (would have been even nicer if the weather had been kinder! - must be lovely in the summer to use the garden). Particularly well set up for young kids - my grandkids loved the toys in the Snug and the cot, high chair etc were all set up. A couple of very minor suggestions for improvement: a good selection of kitchen knives but not a decent sharp one amongst them (common to most cottages I've stayed in)! Also some instructions for operating the TVs would have been useful: there's a TV switch at the top of the stairs which was off so no reception until I messaged the owner & found it had to be on & Now TV is not familiar to everyone - I never managed to get the main terrestrial channels. But these are very minor quibbles which didn't spoil a very enjoyable stay.

Family gathering

We assembled three generations of our family (plus spouses and partners) for a long-awaited get together. We’d come from all over the UK and abroad, so it had to be special. Barnsley Cottage was the perfect location and exactly as we’d hoped - cosy but spacious, with lots of areas for us to enjoy being in each other’s company and (very importantly) to share some great meals that we cooked and enjoyed together. The rooms were lovely, the beds very comfortable and it felt like home from home. We were very lucky with the weather (the warmest and sunniest October for a long time) which allowed us to walk the nearby lanes and fields, or just sit in the wonderful gardens with a glass of wine (well, lots of glasses…). We hadn’t expected such lovely weather and if it had rained the lounge, the snug and the big kitchen would have been plenty for us. The cottage had everything we needed and more. The pub less than a minute’s walk away is a tremendous plus, in any weather. We loved it all and it has given us many happy memories to cherish until we can get everyone there again as soon as possible. Thank you so much!

A lovely house in a great location!

Barnsley Cottage is a beautiful house in a brilliant location. The house is picturesque, in traditional Cotswold stone and in a pretty village with a lovely pub within a couple of minutes walk. There are good amenities within a 10 minute drive in Cirencester. We were a multigenerational; family coming together to celebrate an early Christmas together. The space and layout were excellent - a large kitchen table to eat around, 2 living spaces meaning the children had somewhere to play / watch TV, a spacious and comfortable lounge with 3 decent sofas so we could all sit together easily. The bedrooms and bathrooms are as described and again, the layout was excellent. Beds were comfortable and the house warm and cosy with additional heaters supplied, where needed. We made use of the fire, which was perfect, and straightforward with additional logs being supplied. It was so appreciated that the house had been decorated for Christmas as was the offer of early check in/late check out. On the downside, we felt the cottage was very cluttered and there were a lot of personal belongings left throughout the house, which we wouldn't expect from a holiday let. It felt as though we were staying in someone's house, who had vacated for our stay, rather than a professional let. As a result of the sheer volume of clutter, belongings and 'stuff' in every room it made the place feel less clean than it may have done if it were cleared and minimised. I need to point out that important areas like bedding, bathrooms and kitchen were clean, but more generally the house felt dusty/not well looked after. There was a big stain on one bedroom floor, covered with a portion of carpet, which should be attended to. The family bathroom could do with some improvements to smarten it up (sealant/grout/shower area) and my suggestion would just be to clear the clutter, have a really good sort out and present it more akin to a professional holiday let, rather than family home. We are owner / holiday letters ourselves and keep all our belongings in locked cupboards / unused, locked rooms to counteract this. The above feedback did not detract from what was a really, really super stay with a very welcoming, accommodating and helpful owner. We hope that they may take on board the feedback and look at these areas to improve things even further. It was a 5* stay, let down by these factors. I still would not hesitate to recommend the house to others wishing to stay in this area.

Wonderful stay

Wonderful cottage, well equipped to host 5 couples celebrating a big birthday. The garden is secure and suitable for dogs, Local pub serves delicious food and has a great atmosphere. Also its around the corner from the The Pig Hotel and its spa. Annabel was a wonderful host, who was keen to ensure we were warm and comfortable in her delightful cottage. I suspect we will return again soon.
