"We stayed 4 nights and highly recommend Hotel Varusha. Everyone we met from checking in to our departure was friendly and helpful, even using a translation device to chat about the fascinating history of Veliko Tarnovo. The location is in the Old Town and in a good location for sightseeing, cafés and restaurants. Our room had a lovely view over the atmospheric orange -tiled rooftops to green hills beyond. "This hotel is cool- the walls are carpetted and each room has it's own subtle/fun animal theme that matches the wall carpet outside the room, inside the room, and on the room key. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was good. The hotel also has a pretty view and a nice staff. It is possible to walk to town from the hotel (about 25 minutes), although the path is interesting. It's also easy and inexpensive to take a cab to town."
