"It was great value for money, especially considering the pools for the kids to enjoy. It isn't made clear at time of booking that you have to make your own beds and take your own towels, but they do tell you in good time. It wasn't the end of the world and was fine for a couple of days' stay (to be fair you can pay extra for towels and bedding). The beds were pretty comfortable and the room was cleverly laid out. "The Upstairs hotel was a very stylish and fun hotel just steps from the beach. The staff was really friendly and helpful! One small point is if you do book one of the small/cheap rooms, they aren't easily accessible via the lifts. You will need to go down a couple of flights of stairs which can be tough with heavy luggage. Otherwise I highly recommend this hotel when staying in Ostend!"

"No towels… must rent them. No hand soap in bathroom or kitchen. Bed is not made must make it yourself. Dead bugs on floor. Hallway area was run down and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. We paid extra for an ocean view room and did have a great view and overall felt relatively safe. "

"Great hotel and super situation for the best part of the beach and close to great local bars and nightlife and super restaurants very close including a Mexican 2 minutes away ,all the staff from the man who allowed us to leave our bags in extra early to the friendly girl who let us check in really early ,the bar staff and breakfast staff were also really friendly and the food for breakfast was generous and very tasty and covered many tastes . We had a wonderful few days and want to go back soon...
