"Rooms are beautifully decorated, the interior of the hotel is also nicely designed, but the staff wasn’t particularly friendly. Sure they did the job but it felt a bit, if not hostile, indifferent. Some parts of restaurant aren’t cleaned properly, you could see dust on consoles, bread crumbs on sofas. And then also their spa didn’t work. They have known this at the time of my booking but only informed me some days before my arrival when the booking was non refundable. "

We asked the front desk gentleman to call us a taxi (we were staying in the hotel the following Sunday, however we arrived the Sunday prior and needed assistance hiring a taxi)and he was rude, asking why we traveled to France when we did not speak any French. I expect this type of comment in Paris, maybe, but not outside the city in a town where people frequent for hiking and skiing. "

"We had a lovely appartment to ourselves that was comfortable and had all the facilities we required. The location is excellent. It’s a few steps away from the main square where there are lots of bars, a supermarket and a tourist information office. It is in a really quiet back street. We were able to sit in the garden and enjoy watching the birds. The top-end of Le Valeen cablecar is 10 minutes walk away. It takes you down to Le Fayet for 2.50. Alternatively if you want to walk through the park, you can take the Ascenseur (free) down to it and through the park to the station. Our hosts are very friendly and helpful. They helped us understand the the local area, it’s history, and how to get about. We did several walks in the area mostly by taking the train to Viaduc St Marie or Chamonix. There’s also a free bus to nearby villages which we used to get to the start of our walk."
