Benchmark in Christiansted

"Property is beyond run down. NO amenities. Staff is halfway interested in being bothered by guests. Doors in room don’t lock. No deadbolt. No safe. No coffee machine, only 1 for entire hotel & its on 1st floor, NO ELEVATOR! LOUD beeping sound (smoke detector?) ALL NIGHT EVERY NIGHT! Towels are old & grimy, a/c halfway cools. VERY DISAPPOINTED in this former beautiful property on prime location "

"For anyone who would consider coming to this resort. Don’t!!!!!!! It Sucks!!!!! I say again, DON’T come. It sucks… Room is ugly. No water or cups for the coffee. No water in the fridge. The pillows sucks!!! The only thing that was nice was the ocean view. Incredible view. And it was only 5 minutes from the down town"

"My fiancé and I stayed 3 nights here in March and while I wouldn't call it a 5-star hotel, we had an excellent experience. Something to consider when staying here is that it is located about 40 minutes away from the main city area (Christiansted) and the roads leading up the hotel get narrow and the cell service gets shotty. The drive is so far out that some Uber drivers decline your ride because they do not want to drive out that far. I would def let them drive instead of renting if you are from the US. -- but with that distance comes privacy and very nice mountain/beach views! So just know what you are getting! Also, the beach access at the resort is pretty much non-existent. The waves are there, but the beach is not -- it is a shore of mostly rocks. But the food at the restaurants was really good!! And they had someone playing live music during dinner every night. The staff (Muffs, Malcom and Luis) were great. We enjoyed meeting and conversing with them at various points during the day and at the bar. I enjoyed looking off into the beach and sunset, and the privacy of this resort compared to others on the island is noteworthy. If you want to be out of the hussle and bussle and just enjoy some quiet island time -- I would recommend Grapetree. "
