Shuttle service was excellent, as was communication. The cabin was well appointed with necessary items. I would recommend hooks and/or bats on the walls for towels, jackets etc. also chairs to sit outside the cabin. Perhaps mosquito head nets?

Cabin in the woods
My only complaint was the outhouse was ridiculous. It doesn't even have a door for privacy. It has a see through curtain. To use it at night you would have to take a short walk into the woods to use it. They need to build one with a little more privacy. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. No microwave or refrigerator. It is definitely a cabin in the woods. We had a great time.

The actual cabins were very cute and the beds were comfortable. Communicating with the staff was great. The bathroom left much to be desired. Just be prepared.

Thanks for your review! We know outhouses aren't for everybody. In remote Alaska, outhouses are standard. Expedia's parameters don't allow us to have outhouses in the description - so we try to make it clear with photos and other reviews! Hopefully your review will help make it clear to future guests that we do have outhouses here!

Nice place to get away from it all but be prepared because you really will be getting away from it all. No power outlets other than some legacy USB ports. You will have to bike to town unless you don’t mind a mile walk (it’s often pouring rain ) Otherwise, the staff is extremely attentive and cabin was spotless.

Loved staying at Blackburn Cabins. The cabin was absolutely charming with thoughtful amenities. The bed was comfortable with nice linens, the outdoor shower was a treat, although low on water pressure. Definitely staying there again.

Such a lovely, quaint, off the grid place. The cabin was very comfortable, clean, and had a classic Alaskan vibe. Loved it!

Awesome accommodation while visiting Wrangell
This place was absolutely charming!! The hosts were very responsive and accommodating and you can’t beat the location. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Everything was as described. They did a great job on the Cabins set up. We used everything (showers, loo, heat, bikes, etc) and everything worked. Was lovely to stay in the town of Blackburn! Only difficult thing is getting in touch if you don't have Verizon.

Rustic but clean and comfortable log cabins. My wife and I and our two kids had a wonderful time. We stayed two nights but wish we could have stayed longer. We loved having the bicycles available to ride into town. Also had fun hiking to the toe of the glacier to see ice bergs into the lake. So cool! Staff were friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely stay here again on our next trip to Mccarthy.

The cabin interior looks good but it's kind of small for 4 people. No microwave but they provide a stove and kitchenware that you can use. Shared shower and open air toilet. Staff are nice snd friendly. It's a good place if you like quite and cabin lifestyle. They also provide the bicycles to bike into Mccarthy town or hike on the trail to see glacier from a distance view.

This actually was a nice place to stay, however the Expedia description did not describe it well, and my expectations were different than the reality. The hosts are doing a great job with maintenance and the room were perfectly clean and comfortable. (the AirBnB description which was much better). My opinion started with the cost, but at the time I booked this was the only place I found, and I realize the market in McCarthy is high, but the cost led me to believe that this place would be different. I totally missed that the bathrooms would be out houses (and without doors at that) and no running hot water in the room, although a kettle had been provided. I could not get the shower to be warm except for flashes of extremely hot inside of a cold stream, although I followed the instructions. They do pick you up from the foot bridge, so that was great. They provided bicycles (which I did see on Expedia) which I thought was very creative, but we couldn't manage unknown bikes with our camera gear etc, so we walked, which was ok... but we had planned to see McCarthy, Kenicott, and walk out to the toe of the glacier, and we just were not up to quite that much walking. The restaurants were limited, 1) $42/plate 2) a bar (which we typically avoid) 3) a burger place, where we ate, 4) in Kennicott, that served dinner after the shuttle stopped for the evening. All in all, not our favorite getaway.

This is a great "off-the-grid" getaway. You are literally off the grid (unless you use Verizon). It is about a mile outside McCarthy. You get around by bike or on foot. The cabins are clean, beds comfy. The hosts are great. Very rustic. If you arent into "roughing it", this probably isn't for you.
