The condo lives up to its pictures with beautiful decor, current features and nice living space for a family/group. My family really enjoyed the space as our landing spot in between sightseeing.
The apartment is great in both condition and location. We really enjoyed the apartment. The only downside was the sheets/towels could have been better.
Dan’s property was a fantastic booking for a girl’s weekend in the city. We enjoyed hanging out in the apartment, as well as exploring the neighborhood. Would absolutely recommend to friend groups looking to visit Chicago.
Dan was awesome and the property was better than described and exactly as pictured. Conveniently located to public transit and attractions. There were no issues, but I am confident that had there been any, they would have been addressed expeditiously.
Really liked almost everything about this place. Overall, it was perfect. Small dislikes would be the beds. A lot of them so that was great but not the best. Cleanliness not really great but not horrible. Other things like location, garage, easy security codes to enter and exit, communication with host etc were all very positive and we would definitely stay here again.
The best thing about this place is its location. Chicago Ave, where the rental sits, runs right into downtown. Our small-town family fairly easily figured out the train and bus system, and there are many public transportation options directly around the area.
There is a dog park right across the street and another big one at the end of the block. The neighborhood felt safe exploring with my kids.
The layout of the facility is really nice. Plenty of space. The rooms are large, and even though we didn’t cook, the kitchen appeared well stocked.
The only downside was that the place lacked attention to some details. Nothing major. Several light switches didn’t seem to go to anything, a few light bulbs were burned out, there were quite a few places where it was evident that a new coat of paint is in order. The prominent issue was that the bunk beds were rickety. They were broken in places and poorly fastened together. The top bunk felt dangerous.
Overall, we had an amazing stay. Easy in and out, accessible to everything, solid communication, and clean place to visit. (Bonus that there is free parking in a residential style garage!)
Perhaps I’m nit picky, but it’s 4 stars for me (maybe 4.5). If they upgraded the bunk beds, changed some light bulbs, and added a fresh coat of paint, it’s definitely 5 stars.
I believe the whole building is fairly new. The kitchen and bathrooms were beautiful and decorated very nicely.
I was a little worried about the location at first but we actually felt very safe. It is in a downtown area so there are always people out and about. The balcony was a nice touch and we enjoyed having coffee and sitting out there.
We parked in the garage the whole weekend and took the brown line and bus to get most places. Both were within a very short walking distance. We also enjoyed the Griddle 24 restaurant for a quick breakfast that was within walking distance.
Communication was very thorough and we did not have any issues needing to be addressed.
The only thing I would mention about the garage, is that I wasn't sure if it was a going to be a parking garage or what so I drove around the block twice trying to figure out where to park. The garage doors/entrance are in the alley behind the building and painted the same brown color as the building. It is a personal garage with four parking spaces, each are clearly marked for the unit so you have to be sure and park in the correct one. The spots are a bit tight.
The only other thing that I would mention is that the bunk beds didn't seem super sturdy. I wouldn't have felt comfortable having someone sleep in the top bunk, unless it was a child. We did not need the top bunks so it was fine for us.
Overall it's a very nice property and the property management company was easy to work with.

Decent little spot...
This is a decent spot. Probably more suitable for young adults in terms of what's offered.
Nice things:
Parking was in a secure garage below the building (right parking, but should be fine for small to medium vehicle/SUV).
Extra parking wasn't difficult to find.
They did provide coffee grounds, coffee filters, sugar packets and non dairy creamer.
Host was always quick to respond and share info.
Less Than Ideal Things:
Arrived and there was an odd/dirty smell to the place.
On the surface, most things were fairly cleaned, but definitely the place needs a deep cleaning. Also, the furniture had a lot of hair from the past guest on it, which was gross.
In the kitchen, there were no dish towels for drying dishes or hands. Luckily, they did provide an extra roll of paper towels if needed.
The building is super loud. You can hear the neighbors above you, who were super loud. Additionally, it seemed to be in a party building. Both nights we were there, there were parties going on and the noise definitely travels.
The main bedroom has large windows in it, which is nice for daytime and probably fine for milder months, but in the wintertime, cold air travels through them (and we were there during mild Chicago winter days). Also, the curtains aren't great, as they don't really cover the windows entirely.
Overall, the place is decent, but to me it seems like a low budget stop, or a good place for college kids. There is a great breakfast diner down the road worth visiting.
This place was awesome and a great value. We had 3 coworkers stating here for a conference. Everything was great.
Only semi-negative thing I could say about the place was that anything longer than a minivan will not fit in the garage.
We are three artists/retired educators who were in grad school together in the late ‘70s. We rendezvous annually in a different city to visit museums, talk art, and have fun. This Sedgwick unit in Chicago fit our needs perfectly. Located just three blocks from the “Chicago Avenue” CTA Brown Line Train stop, it was easy to get to most everywhere downtown. Lovely 3-bdrm, 2 bath apartment.
It was okay but needs a refresh. I understand you can’t expect people to take the best care of a property but it lacks practical things like bedroom night stands with lamps for reading, kitchen amenities like dish towels, place mats, wine glasses. Additional living room lamps, end tables. Just things like that. It worked out fine for our needs.
