This stay went super smooth. Noise isn’t really a big thing around here. Yes the rooms are small but they workout perfectly for just sleeping. Area is quite pleasant with many restaurants and bars to pick from.
For a low-cost, shared bathroom experience, it was excellent, very clean with CTA stations nearby. Also number 65 bus takes you to Navy Pier, very convenient. I recommend Grand House for location and low cost stay.
The property is within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and even concert venues! The communal living spaces were well maintained and comfortable, and privacy was never a concern when needed.
I had a great stay at Grand House Chicago. The location was very convenient and easy to get to. My room was clean, and the bathroom was spotless as well. It’s an excellent place for a short stay.
My room was on the second floor, and the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful, even with neighboring rooms. I also appreciated the secure access with the entry code, which made me feel safe during my stay.
I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clean and convenient place in Chicago.
Location was super convenient, and the management was always responsive despite being offsite. I received a text around 2PM with my check in code and directions for how to find my assigned room, and the code became active at exactly 3PM.
This place is simple, no-frills, but it is safe, clean, the bed was comfortable, and honestly I was stunned that despite being in a busy area, it was quiet enough that I didn't need my earplugs!
I would absolutely stay here again.
We arrived a bit too early for check-in, but the staff kindly let us leave our bags there. We were also running late afterward, and they really took the time to help us find a quick solution. The staff was honestly amazing, even though they were super busy, they did everything they could to help us out. They understood exactly what we needed and were so kind and attentive. Special thanks to Krys, super friendly and helpful!

Liked: Cleanliness
This is NOT a hotel in the strictest term of the word, more like a Pension. Bathroom was shared, with a communal kitchen area,
NO smoke detectors in individual rooms, NO working ventian blinds on window! 1 light worked in my room, had to move the bed to find a place to charge my cellphone. Room was clean, building was very secure, BRING EARPLUGS street outside is very noisy.
Grand House is one of Chicago's best kept secrets. It's like staying at a friend's apartment for the night while they are away (but they have left you everything you will need to have a great stay). My room was extremely clean. The air conditioner was brilliant (it got so cold that I had to turn it down). I asked for a thicker blanket and the staff member at the house when I checked in gave me a wonderfully warm snuggly comforter and I left the air on (just like I like it). I paid the extra $25 for an early check in which was more than worth it. Yes there is no elevator but the two lots of steps to my room on the top floor was not a big deal as I only had a backpack. Shared bathroom & kitchen were well maintained and very clean. Fridge and coffee pot very appreciated and free excellent fast wifi. No TV in room was a little disappointing as it would have been great to relax in my room and watch TV but not a huge issue. I could have watched TV on my phone if I wanted to. Grand House is in a safe neighborhood very close to bus & train stops with a cute Cafe for breakfast and lunch nearby. Very quiet room and the key pad locks on each room and front door make it even safer. Thanks for a great stay Grand Hotel. See you next time I am in Chicago. Special shout out to the Gentleman on staff who greeted me when I arrived and gave me another blanket. He was very welcoming and helpful. Made me feel at home immediately.
Within walking distance of Chicago's most beloved institutions (Richard's Bar and The Salt Shed), this well equipped hostel put us in the heart of the action. Affordable parking and helpful staff secure Grand House's place near the top of on my return trip itinerary.
